As I get ready to walk across the stage in less than 24 hours, I first want to thank God. In the fall of 2023, I came in with a vision: I would graduate early, and I would let nothing and nobody get in my way. It wasn’t always easy, but with God, all things are possible.
Before I leave, I have to say thank you to the Office of Student Media and JagTalk Podcast for being a home for me from the moment I stepped on campus. Thank you for giving me a space to create, connect, and grow.
A special thank you as well to my Geaux Teams family, CJ Club, NSLS, and Delta for providing spaces where I was able to lead and learn.

Tomorrow, i take my final walk at Southern University and A&M College, and all i can think about is how faithful GOD has been through every season of my life.
every closed door, every delay, every lesson, every blessing somehow led me exactly here.
this journey changed me forever, and i’ll never stop thanking God for carrying me through it all.

Four years ago I packed my life up and moved 1,500 miles away from home with nothing but faith, ambition, and a dream bigger than my fears. Somewhere between the long nights, the pressure, the memories, the friendships, the tears, and the growth… I found myself here.
To my daddy, thank you for always reminding me to go harder and never settle for less than what I deserve.
But Mommyyy… omg. This moment got your fingerprints all over it. 💙
As a first generation graduate, I need you to know this degree is yours too. I know there was once a younger version of you sitting at Grambling with dreams of crossing a stage yourself, and even though life had other plans, you still made sure your daughter would never stop chasing hers. Thank you for sacrificing in ways I probably still don’t fully understand. Thank you for trusting me enough to let me move so far away from home and become my own person. Thank you for every prayer whispered over me, every late night phone call, every “keep going” when I wanted to quit. Tomorrow when I walk across that stage, I hope you see a piece of yourself walking with me too.
And Gangfr🅿️💗, who would’ve thought that little freshman year gc would turn into the family it is today? Y’all took the out-of-town girl in from day one and loved me like I always belonged here. We literally grew up together. Through every breakdown, every laugh attack, every stressful semester, every random memory, every win, every loss… somehow we still in that same gc talking every day like freshman year never ended 😭 love y’all forever bad.
Southern gave me more than a degree. It gave me lifelong friendships, leadership, resilience, memories I’ll carry forever, and a version of myself little me used to pray to become.
And tomorrow, May 15th at 10 AM, I will officially be obtaining my Bachelor’s degree in Political Science.

Four years ago, I came to Southern University and A&M College with no real blueprint — just faith, ambition, and a willingness to figure it out along the way.
Now I’m leaving with experiences that shaped me, people that changed me, lessons I’ll carry forever, and a vision for the life I’m building.
What started as uncertainty turned into purpose. Stepping into answered prayers with confidence.
