Malé talismany štěstí a připomínky cesty. Hlavním motivem se tak stalo vonítko do auta, předmět, který svojí všedností a variabilitou předává všechny tyto symbolismy a v každém z nás vyvolává s nimi spojené osobní asociace.” 📸: @stepandolezal

Challenge Designing the exhibition identity for There Will Be Beauty! at the @galerieliberec required balancing irony with gravity. The brief asked us to reveal Milan Kunc “behind the curtain”. His inner world as well as the layered meaning of his works. The title itself, echoing the cadence of communist slogans, invited a paradox: bold, propagandistic optimism turned inside out. Our challenge was to create a system that felt monumental and authoritative, yet playful enough to undermine itself. Mirroring Kunc’s lifelong critique of ideology, consumerism, and excess. Solution We built the visual identity on the foundations of socialist-era poster aesthetics: commanding type, strong verticality, and declarative slogans. But instead of leaving the surface intact, we allowed it to collapse, peel, and fracture. Exposing new layers beneath. This act of revealing became central to the exhibition’s language: the modernist “propaganda” façade disintegrates to uncover Kunc’s vibrant, ironic, and deeply personal works. The same principle extended into the exhibition catalogue, where the rigid structure gradually breaks apart, opening portals into his layered artistic universe. The result is an identity that is both monumental and fragile. Echoing Kunc’s wit, critique, and his position between exile and homecoming. Photos: @wickeimack

Challenge @simi_poradna , a human rights organization supporting migrants and refugees, approached us with a fragmented communication system that lacked cohesion and clarity. Their previous identity leaned on outdated, generic visuals. Most notably a logo depicting a white and black figure trapped in a rectangle, evoking separation rather than solidarity. The challenge was to reimagine Simi’s identity for the 21st century: to create a system that felt warm, open, and trustworthy while resonating with younger generations who naturally perceive migration as a part of everyday life. Solution We built Simi’s new identity on three pillars: warmth, accessibility, and connection. Gradients became the central visual metaphor. Representing blending, meeting, and the fluidity of cultures and lives crossing paths. Typography plays an equally important role: letters merge when they come into proximity, forming new shapes that echo the transformative nature of migration. The identity is fluid, designed to work dynamically across digital platforms, more as a living system than a static logo. It communicates trust and empathy while celebrating diversity, positioning Simi as an approachable, forward-looking organization that people can both rely on and relate to.

Challenge Each edition of @czechdesignweek is an opportunity to show that design is alive, experimental, and ever-changing. For 2024, the goal was to create an identity that would reflect the dynamism of the design process itself, a system that could morph, shift, and breathe just like the ideas it celebrates. The challenge was to balance flexibility and cohesion: giving the festival a recognisable visual voice, while allowing the 2024 edition to have its own character, crafted by the designer’s hand. Solution The 2024 identity is inspired by the process of shaping design itself. Every object, a chandelier, a piece of ceramics, or a chair, has its own form and structure, and these physical processes informed the visual system. Typography and shapes interact, merge, and bend, echoing how designers manipulate, mold, and experiment with materials. Forms shift and collide across digital and physical applications, creating a sense of motion and transformation. The pedestal logo anchors the system, highlighting the festival as a platform, while the morphing forms celebrate the diversity of design, showing that the identity itself is shaped by creativity, experimentation, and the constant evolution of ideas. Visual identity for kolemhliny — an interdisciplinary creative platform focused on clay materials, their application, research, and education. @kolemhliny.cz brings together local resources and traditional techniques in a contemporary context, from experimental mixtures and collaborations with research institutions to real architectural projects. Its mission is to spread knowledge and popularize clay through workshops, lectures, and built works. Designing the identity for kolemhlíny required capturing the tactile essence of clay while ensuring clarity across digital and print applications. Our challenge was to translate the granular, layered quality of rammed earth into a coherent visual system. It needed to feel raw yet intentional—expressing materiality, craft, and the interdisciplinary, experimental nature of the platform without appearing chaotic or overly decorative. The final logotype is set to evoke the density and texture of clay particles. Its modular, grain-like rhythm mirrors the layered process of rammed earth construction, creating a strong link to the project’s material focus. A bold orange palette and dynamic composition amplify this connection, while a supporting typographic system ensures versatility, giving kolemhlíny a distinctive identity rooted in craft and contemporary design.
