DAANSEKOU Cultural Arts & Wellness Collective and members of the SoCal West African Drum & Dance Community invite you to our First Annual Pre-Juneteenth Kickoff Celebration in Encinitas, CA — the first event of its kind here. Sunday, June 14, 2026 1:00 PM – 5:00 PM 710 S Coast Hwy 101, Encinitas, CA 92024 Juneteenth reminds us of the strength, resilience, and wisdom carried forward from our West African ancestors. In a time when the world feels divided and so much is happening around us, celebrating these roots feels more important than ever. This gathering is a joyful opportunity to educate, uplift, and share the vital presence of West African culture with the entire community. Everyone is welcome, no matter your background. We believe someone who engages in and defends racist rhetoric should not serve in our city government. 📍 City Hall Encinitas 505 S. Vulcan Ave Arrive by 5:45 PM to fill out a speaker slip. Check OPPOSE and state: Removal of Steve Houbeck from the UFAC due to harmful racist rhetoric. (No address or phone number required.) If you can’t attend, please email City Council and city leadership to submit a public comment. This is about dignity, accountability, and the kind of community we want our children growing up in. Let’s show up and make it clear.
