A brush to transgress.
Artist Drew Sovran’s paintings use only black, white and greys to create strong, unapologetic visual statements about the male body.
The neutral pallet allows him to create a soft boldness.
It’s a similar sentiment expressed by queer photographer Robert Mapplethorpe., who noted: “I work in black and white because colour can be too demanding. Black and white is more subtle.”

from a kid in Windsor to a young man in Toronto, it’s crazy how far following what I love has taken me. Art, design, and the little rituals along the way. Still growing, still becoming, still creating what feels right ❤️
