Same venue, same energy, but this time there were two tables rolling at once. Eight players, two parallel worlds unfolding together.
There were experienced players, who arrived with confidence, jokes, and strategies of their own. And there were players completely new to the game… and watching them step into the experience for the first time was genuinely special.
I just stood there and watched, the jitters, the excitement, the hesitation, the “wait-what?” moments, and then the slow click of understanding as the game began to make sense.
And somewhere between the dice rolls and the decisions, the table came alive.
The feedback this time wasn’t just “the game is fun.”
It was deeper, new mechanics, new possibilities, new ways players imagined the game growing.
That’s when it hit me: it’s becoming their experience, not just my idea.

The first one always hits different.
No one knew what was coming, not even me.
We gathered around the table, blank expressions turning into curiosity, laughter, and collaboration. The rulebook looked thicker than it was, and yet, the moment the dice rolled, something clicked.
An idea that lived in my head for months was suddenly being tested by real people, who showed up with open minds and contagious energy.
They laughed, argued, adapted… and that’s when I realised, this was no longer mine alone.

Although, this magnificent structure, currently stands behind closed gates. A silent struggle still continues.
Its story traces back to 1862, when its foundation was laid, culminating in its inauguration just five years later, in 1867. It’s a grand scale, being one of the largest such houses of worship for Jews in Asia. This monumental undertaking was spearheaded by David Sassoon, a towering figure of his time. Having arrived in Bombay around 1832, he built an industrial empire that left an indelible mark not just on Bombay, but significantly on Pune as well. His profound philanthropy shaped much of the city, with his legacy visible in institutions like Sassoon Hospital. He passed away in 1864, and his final resting place, a peaceful tomb, is located right on the premises.

Interestingly, the journey of @nfaiofficial is intertwined with another significant landmark nearby: Jaykar Bungalow. This heritage structure, established in 1910 and once home to the first Vice-Chancellor of Pune University, Mr. M.R. Jaykar, later became part of the NFAI. Its British architectural style, with wooden floors and towering bookshelves, now houses a digital film library, offering researchers a glimpse into our rich cinematic past. It’s a beautiful blend of history and preservation.
If you ever find yourself in Pune, I highly recommend visiting the National Film Archive of India. While access to the inner vaults might be restricted, understanding its crucial role and perhaps even exploring the grounds and the historic Jaykar Bungalow is an experience that connects you to the legacy of Indian cinema.
