This Sunday, May 17th, I will be back in Maplewood NJ for my favorite stop on the Spring record fair circuit, which I like to call the best little record fair in the world. This time about half the table will be from a collection I bought of a jazz scholar and radio DJ from Philly. There is a particular focus on free jazz, avant-garde, 1970s to 1980s, and European imports. Vinyl is mostly VG+ or better but the covers are well loved and priced appropriately. Please swipe to see some highlights. There will also be some soul and hip-hop records from this collection plus the usual rock LPs and some 45s. See @maplewoodrecordfair for more info.
I'm returning to @thevinylcon in Philly, this Sat & Sun, May 2 & 3. I'm still figuring out the right mix of LPs and 45s to bring but I'll post some new arrival highlights to my stories over the next couple days. It's always a fun show and I enjoy meeting new customers a bit outside my usual NY/NJ geographic range. See you there.
"From The Collection Of Stan R. Krause."
If you haven't already seen it, please refer to my previous post for the backstory. About 10% of Stan's collection was LPs, and a few genres like Latin and the blues were a little better represented on the long players. He also had some '90s to 2000s stuff that I imagine was purchased for the store but he liked enough to take one copy home. I have priced up a few hundred LPs and some will make their debut at the Long Island @vinylrevolutionrecordshow on March 15th and all of them will be at the Allentown (PA) show on March 28th. And discogs later of course. A few highlights are pictured.
"From The Collection Of Stan R. Krause."
This is one that I've been working on for over 7 years, since I helped Stan's widow Ewa clear out Stan's Square Records here in Jersey City in 2018. I was finally able to buy Stan's personal record collection late last year and have been quietly sorting and pricing the 45s since then. Stan was a lover of vocals, primarily group vocals, so the collection is majority doo wop, but with plenty of R&B and soul (northern, sweet, and otherwise) represented. I have about 3,000 45s to sell with some hundreds of LPs to follow at a later date
I have started some private selling but will be bringing some boxes this Saturday, February 14th to the Wayne (NJ) record fair. I'll be at part of Barry's table at the back-right corner of the room. I should also have some boxes at the Long Island @vinylrevolutionrecordshow on March 15th and of course all the boxes will be at the Allentown (PA) show on March 28th. And plenty of this will make its way to discogs over the next year.
The awesome sticker design and illustration is by @patjameslongo_artwork AKA @primitivesoundsystem and a special shoutout to @jeffro_roxs who worked harder than anyone to make this happen. Thanks.
Read more about Stan at the URL printed at the bottom of the sticker.
This Sunday, November 16th, I will be back in Maplewood NJ for the best little record fair in the world. Expect the usual mix of rock and punk and jazz and soul LPs plus some 45s. I'll post some highlights to my stories over the next few days. It's always a great show with some local dealers who don't sell anywhere else. See @maplewoodrecordfair for more info.
It's back! The WFMU Record Fair in NYC is this upcoming weekend, Saturday and Sunday, November 8 and 9. I'm at the same spot as last year, table S12 both days (turn right after you enter the main room, first table against the wall.) I've bought a number of good record collections in the past year and I've been putting aside loads of quality titles specifically for this show. I've got LPs in most every genre, 4 long boxes of higher-end 45s, and I'm hoping to bring a couple boxes of ephemera. Please keep an eye on my stories all this week for new arrival highlights.
FOR SALE: Cake "Pieces of Cake" 1967 promo-only sampler with picture sleeve featuring an edited medley of all the songs from the debut album by this rock/soul/psych girl group. I believe this was undocumented online before I added it to discogs just now. Not on 45cat, no archived past eBay sales, and no random google hits (but please correct me if I'm wrong.) I've listed it for sale on discogs at a shot-in-the-dark price, but accepting offers. Please DM if you want to deal direct.
Unknown 1979 disco 3-track 12" acetate by Beckie Giuffera for a canceled Casablanca Records release. This was an unlikely flea market find some weeks back and I've consigned it to the good folks at @carolinasoulrecords who have it up on eBay right now, with just a few days left and it's currently very cheap. You can find sound clips in the auction description. My online research got me nowhere in terms of figuring out anything about the artist or this release. If anybody knows anything, please comment below.
FOR SALE: Autographed "Le Sun Ra" John Cage Meets Sun Ra LP, 1987, yellow labels variation in VG+/VG+. Previous eBay sales for an autographed copy the past few years are at $127, $150, $249, $560, and $600. I'm asking below the average at $300 postpaid in the USA or inquire for overseas shipping. DM to reserve but if Instagram's continual bugginess blocks you from messaging me, just drop a comment below.

FOR SALE: Hanover Park High School Presenting The Concert Band LP, HMR Productions, HMR-616. Previously undocumented 1972 album notable for a cover of Isaac Hayes "Theme From Shaft". Kind of falls under the banner of 'so bad it's good'. Please check YouTube where I uploaded the whole song under my cyclotronic642 account there. $50 postpaid in the USA, or inquire for overseas. Please DM to reserve, not in comments.
My spring record fair blitzkrieg continues this weekend with @thevinylcon in Philly, Sat & Sun, May 10 & 11. I'm still figuring out the right mix of mostly rock and jazz LPs to bring, plus higher end 45s of all genres as usual. Keep an eye on my stories all week for new arrival highlights. Bring your cool mom to the show on Sunday for Mother's Day, or at least run over solo after brunch.
