This #Gibsunday is a little more mellow with this lovely @gibsonacoustic @gibsonguitar Keb Mo signature model “Bluesmaster” acoustic guitar. . This L-Series sized spruce top acoustic has mahogany sides, back & neck with a natural rosewood board - this one is particularly interesting, with no dye and lots of natural character. The D shape neck is hearty but very comfortable, and this guitar very much plays & feels like a fine vintage acoustic. . #gibson #gibsonacoustic #kebmo #bluesmaster

Aight. Let’s talk about THIS guitar.😉 . Every now & then I get a wild hair to do something different, mostly just to explore something I’m interested in (anyone recall that Jazzmaster phase recently?). This time, the opportunity to pick up this charming offset fell in my lap (thanks @bonaventure_guitars ) and I wanted to mess with a unique tele setup - so here we are! . The neck is unbranded with an import size truss rod. It needed a level, so I believe it’s still “new” - regardless, it has Kluson style tuners, super clean frets, a multiple A level of flame and the thinnest nitro satin finish you can get away with & still call it “finished”. . The body is solid wood, but super light - the guitar is around 7.25lbs. Poplar? Maybe Alder? It has a non-rattlecan sparkle finish that’s somewhere between champagne and…olive? Reverse control plate for style, and big ass knobs for charm. . Anyway, string thru @fender bridge & saddles, this has a Roswell Puckups “Charlie Christian” bridge pickup, and an @malinoskiguitar neck Gold Foil - which is the real gem here. I absolutely LOVE this neck pickup, a humbucker sized single coil with this great metal grill. THIS pickup is the sound that I wish all teles had in the neck position…while the bridge is a screaming tele icepick ready to peel the pavement off Broadway! . So this guitar is currently listed on Reverb as a “Tele Killer Offset” - it’s light, unbranded, sounds unique & incredible, and does everything a tele does - but a little better. I’d love to sell it locally, but happy to ship & open to trades! . Enjoy the last couple clips of my patient & generous neighbor @mrichruth giving a demo. Incredibly grateful to have such an amazing neighbor! . #offset #telekiller #malinoskipickups #roswellpickups #eastnashville

And sometimes I get to see the coolest custom made stuff, too. . Here’s a beautiful John Woods Custom made guitar from 2010 - and that’s all I know for sure about this! Brought in by Charlie from the @hartrichlandowband & purchased recently from @cartervintageguitars , their sales tag had all that I really know about this one - but the guitar tells its own story, too. . The bolt on neck is considerable - both wide & thick, this borders on acoustic territory - a very fast playing acoustic! This came in for a setup, and it had sky high action, in part to the truss rod having ZERO tension on it. I can see why they may have been a little intimidated to adjust the rod, but it works just fine if you put a little effort into it.😉 . The pickups look to be classic @fender with clean & simple Fender style wiring to compliment it - making this guitar give serious WOLF vibes! It sounds super bright and clear, as you’d imagine a flame maple hippie sandwich loaded with vintage style Fender electronics would! . Thanks again Charlie of @hartrichlandowband - these guys rip, give them a follow for your next chance to see them in town! . #hartrichlandowband #jameswoodsguitar #maplesyrup #gratefuldead #jerrytone

Crowning frets with the @fretguru SharkFin crowning file - a file holder & file combo that greatly reduces stress and fatigue in your crowning hand. . Far too often I have to catch myself and realize I have a death grip - the steering wheel, a spatula while cooking, my picking hand with a plectrum. But the death grip that REALLY ruins your hands comes with the stress of over-gripping a tool handle - especially files! . This SharkFin crowning file handle places my hand directly over my work, giving me a much more ergonomic approach to applying just the right amount of pressure to properly crown my frets. No more wasted energy, every move I make helps crown the file cleaner. Faster. Smoother, and with less stress. . I’m a big fan. Hit up @fretguru and you will be too. 👍 . #fretguru #sharkfin #crowningfile #guitarrepairtools #techtip

This #teletuesday is a GREAT Nashville story, and I’m thrilled to be just a small part of it. . In the late ‘80s, maybe early ‘90s, some hot young picker moved to town with a strat & not much else. Renting a room in a house full of musicians, a roommate tried to point him in the right direction by asking “Why the HELL did you bring a STRAT to Nashville? This is a TELE town!”. That young musician went to the first pawn shop he found, and bought the first tele he saw: this wild 1983 MIA Standard Telecaster. He proceeded to play that Tele all around town, finally hanging up his strings and retiring some years ago. . Fast forward to today - and he pulls this old workhorse out of storage & decides to sell it for some gas money. Enter @nickharleyband - eagle eye sharp on Marketplace, Nick scoops this old workhorse up for a song. The bridge was rusted in place, the saddles loooong gone. While the controls were too rusted out to be usable, the neck pickup is working (and working damn fine!) and there’s enough vinegar to clean up the bridge & control plate. Back up & singing, this one accompanied Nick this last Sunday @the5spotnashville and sounded great! . Some interesting notes on the neck: at 1.711”, this is the widest @fender neck I’ve seen. It’s also a very thin .798” at the 1st fret, and the 12th fret thickness of .841” is more like what I’d expect at the 1st! So this is a wide, slim taper neck - reminded me a little more of the Gibson ‘60s style taper! I also love the snakebite on the top, behind the bridge. That and the now-missing locking nut contraption from the headstock make me wonder what kind of wild, Broadway-Bender type stuff this old tele had up its sleeve at some point. Man, I love the visibly history these player guitars wear on them. Like…what’s up with the 5th fret? 😂😂😂 . Thanks again @nickharleyband - this was a pleasure. It’s always a joy to bring older guitars back to prime shape, especially when they sound this good! . Also, @nickharleyband most recent album - “Painted Blue” - is streaming all around you. Give it a listen - it’s great! . #fender #telecaster #vintagetele #snakebite

This guitar is just a thrill, and such a Nashville guitar. . Played fearlessly by @seansweirdears with @missmargoprice and on his solo jazz-fusion endeavors, this Aria Pro II is a slab of MIJ Matsumoku goodness. Heavy AF, super fast slim taper neck, and plenty of life left on these freshly crowned original frets. . The “Nashville” part comes in when I first pulled the pickups from this one - original “Patent #” @gibsonguitar humbuckers had been installed long before Sean got it from @fannyshouseofmusic - which feels like a classic Music City move - load a lawsuit MIJ Aria LP with some of the most sought after @gibsonguitar humbuckers EVER. 😂😂😂 . This is the best ‘70s Black Beauty I’ve ever seen that isn’t a Black Beauty. Not every “lawsuit” guitar is a pit of gold, but this one - THIS one - is a GD masterpiece. . #seansweirdears #ariaproii #matsumoku #gibsonpatentnumber

The most recent Gator. . Vintage MIJ husk, refretted with @fender Medium Jumbos, new tuners, new hand scalloped brass nut. Vintage @yamaha_guitars “Super Rock’n’Roller” pickups & pickguard, ‘70s style bridge, @swamp_yankee_photography brass hardware, @adrpedals Alligator Boost Circuit hardwired ON! And @axetremecreations stickers👍 . This one absolutely SCREAMS!! This Gator has the honorable distinction of being the ONLY Gator to scream feedback into the shop - now THAT is a testimonial! . I love the look. Fat, wide, straight grain. The clean headstock, perfectly functioning truss rod…this one has it all. . I might just keep it. I don’t have a Gator of my own…. . I intended to ship this with a @fender deluxe padded gig bag…if I sell it😂😂😂 . #jerrygarcia #alligator #alligatorstrat #europe72 #alligatorstratocaster

Took 3 months of 2026 to get the first Gator out, and it’s been only 3 weeks since then for the second. This “Alligator” is an absolute screamer - @yamaha_guitars ‘70s “Super Rock’n’Roller” pickups, @adrpedals “Alligator Boost” hardwired ON, @swamp_yankee_photography brass, a 5 way switch & the same Cornell-Dubilier PIO tone cap that Jerry used. Dig it!

Pretty sure I’m not supposed to have favorites, but tough cookies kids - this one is WAAAAAAY up there. . Say hello to the Royce, played by @ilikemusicto0 in @gratefuldrag - one of the best touring Grateful Dead shows to ever exist. I’m partial, but I get to be. . This Matsumoku made hippie sandwich is a neck-through design, and is loaded with a pair of @dimarzioinc humbuckers and a @lordguitars single coil in the neck position. Using a @waldotronics G1 Buffer for the OBEL circuit, and a newly installed @adrpedals “Alligator Boost” circuit in both the OBEL loop and the primary output. Typical 5 way switch with master volume & master tone controls. . It is a pleasure to hear Thomas play this guitar. I honestly could not ask for a better group to work with than the @gratefuldrag folks, and it’s always a joy to see the videos from their tours, or to see them here in Nashville every chance I get. . They’re working their collective asses off this summer, so be sure to get out and see them when you get a chance!! . I LOVE YOU BERTHA!!!!! . #bertha #gratefuldrag #royce #waldotronics #gratefuldead

Celebrating #straturday with a @sireusaofficial S3 @larrycarlton335 signature model courtesy of the spectacular @ger37216 - thanks Gordon! . What a guitar! I remember these making a lot of noise a few years ago, I think when they were first available. Now, after checking this one out for a minute, I can understand why - impeccable fretwork, a beautiful finish and efficient hardware. I don’t miss the traditional @fender output jack cup, and I appreciate the simplified master volume/master tone pots. The rolled fingerboard edges and bone nut are great appointments that really add to the playability, and the minimal branding makes for a very clean appearance. . Honestly, it’s hard to find fault with this one! I do wish the volume knob were moved closer to the tone pot, both for unique appearance and practical concerns. I was shocked when I found out the body was mahogany - that really surprised me. . With @larrycarlton335 s amazing list of recordings, it would take quite a guitar to live up to his name….and NOT be a 335! This guitar does feel well equipped to do anything, though - it has the vibe of a clean and efficient tool, ready to cut right through the mix and finish the session! . Overall, a very nice guitar - and it really stands alone at the price point these are available at. The value is absurd. This one has gone nearly untouched since it was purchased, and it played better than most big name brands out of the box. . Thanks again Gordon - it was a real treat to visit with this one!! . #sire #sires3 #sires3larrycarlton #s3
