I'd been secretly hoping one day I'd get to do my own take on a vintage Planet of the Apes man-monkey, monkey man look! I had such a wonderful time on this clip, gorgeous, awe inspiring locations in NSW watching sunrises and waves crashing against the cliffs, beaches and rainforests in such good company with beers at the end of the day, it was really more like a holiday than a job, take me back! Haha

“I saw “more trans bodies in Art!” graffitied on a pub’s toilet wall.
I am a multidisciplinary mixed‑media artist with over a decade of experience working in the Arts since graduating from the Adelaide Central School of Art in 2013. My recent practice has been shaped by ongoing work in film and theatre as a props maker and SFX artist, where the exchange of skills, processes, and techniques continually informs my approach to my personal practise.
I am fascinated by the liminal spaces between low and high culture and how these thresholds influence identity and perception. In recent years, my work has focused on queer representation, particularly its relationship to the Uncanny and the ways in which the familiar can be subtly destabilised and how an object or image can be both compelling and repelling at once.
Joan: existing in space marks my first endeavour into hyperrealist sculpture, extending my earlier explorations in figurative painting and portraiture. Through this work, I investigate how trans bodies occupy space, assert visibility, and generate narrative simply through the act of existing.” - Dominique Keeley

It's hard to even describe how much pure dopamine it was making the man-monkey mask for the Movin' on for the Better video! So much fun!
This is me testing it in the final stages, I hadn't put teeth in yet and I think I did some more painting and cutting the hair and I haven't glued down the eyes sockets. I love to obsess over the smallest details, every freckle, every individual hair! It's a good time ☺️
