Just one day after a powerful protest led by the Indigenous and environmental activists, trucks and heavy equipment arrived to begin construction on a proposed ICE detention center in the heart of the Everglades—what Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier has outrageously coined as "Alligator Alcatraz."
Betty Osceola of the Miccosukee Panther Clan speaks from sacred ground, reminding us that: “We are the environment, and when the land hurts, we hurt.”
This facility threatens not only fragile ecosystems, but sovereign lands and the lives of those criminalized by a violent immigration system.
@friendsoftheeverglades is prompting folks to send a letter to Gov. Ron DeSantis and AG Uthmeier via their form, everglades.org/no-alligator-alcatraz

“I’ve been to 50 protests since October 7th, and not once have I even felt a hint of antisemitism.”
180+ days into the genocide in Gaza, a Jewish man tries to unravel the dangerous “antisemitic” narrative that Israel has weaponized in order to scare the masses into silence.
To date, thousands of people have been fired from their jobs, expelled from schools, doxxed and / or harassed for speaking up in support of Palestine.

A ceasefire is not freedom. Sunday’s car rally was a reminder that Palestine remains under occupation — and that our voices must continue to rise for justice, dignity, and liberation. 🇵🇸 #freepalestine #endtheoccupation
After many months of filming, editing, and reflection, we’re proud to share the official poster for Without Shade, Without Rest.
This documentary is the first of hopefully many from us at Six Eye Films. Directed and photographed by @max_take_photo and @transompitcher , edited and produced by @emstarlight_ , with original music by salmanahadkhan, sound mix by @dan_abrusci , and additional footage by @cuentos.fi .
We’re grateful to @workingfilms and @alleganyfranciscanministries for their support, and to those who shared their time, voices, and stories with us. And last but not least, thank you to @grakthegrackle for the incredible poster design.
Without Shade, Without Rest explores the realities faced by outdoor workers in a changing climate - the quiet endurance, the daily risks, and their fight for protections as extreme heat becomes more frequent and severe.
Stay tuned for updates on upcoming local screenings and community conversations.
On June 16th, workers and leaders from around the country are mobilizing a Nationwide Week of Action to support OSHA’s proposed rule that would protect workers from heat-related illnesses. Join us and get #FiredUp for #HeatWeek! More: heatjusticenow.org #HeatJustice

Two weeks and a journey spanning seven states- these are scenes from five interviews from the frontlines of extreme labor conditions and structural abuse.
From Florida’s fields to Georgia’s fast food counters, from Louisiana’s retail shops and prison farms to North Carolina’s tobacco rows—workers shared what it means to survive, labor, and resist in the face of extreme heat and exploitation. One formerly incarcerated worker described being forced to work in Louisiana’s farm fields under the threat of solitary confinement.
These interviews are part of a growing movement. In June, a national coalition will rise in a Week of Action to demand real, enforceable heat protections and systemic change.
This is just the beginning. Now onto the editing! 🎥🔥✊

Last weekend, dozens took to the streets once again to demand migrant rights in Miami- a city that has the highest share of immigrants of any county in Florida, and in the nation.
Immigrants make up over 54% of Miami’s population, driving key sectors like healthcare, construction, and hospitality. The protest stood in solidarity with them - not just for their economic impact, but because human rights and dignity aren’t conditional.
Protest in Pompano Beach Against ICE Raids & New Trump Admin Immigration Policies 🚨
Community members gathered in Pompano Beach, FL, to protest the Trump administration’s aggressive mass deportation plan. ICE raids are intensifying, with reports of agents targeting schools, places of worship, and other sensitive locations—breaking long-standing norms. Quotas for arrests have increased, putting more families at risk.
Immigrants constitute nearly 19% of the workforce in the United States, and in some industries such as agriculture, they comprise up to 73%. They pay billions of dollars in taxes every year.
“We are the backbone of this country. We are what makes America.”
Know Your Rights: ⚖️ You have the right to remain silent—do not discuss your immigration status with officers. 🚪 ICE cannot enter your home without a signed warrant from a judge. 📄 Do not sign anything you don’t understand.
The Amal Project hosted their second annual community picnic and partnered with the Life USA Organization to raise funds for tents for displaced Gazans. After a year and five months of genocide, 1.9 million people out of a population of 2.2 million are displaced. After the ceasefire began last Sunday, many Palestinians are now returning to their homes, only to find that they have been razed to the ground by Israel.
“Some of the people, they just say “my biggest wish, my biggest dream now is a tent”. And that is why Amal Project for this event in particular focused on buying tents.”
