At the Mortenson Center in Global Engineering and Resilience, we tackle some of the world's toughest challenges. But we also know that to do serious work, you can't take yourself too seriously all the time.
Here is my attempt at explaining some atomic physics to musicians. Shoutout to @primocuz303 🎥 for pulling up to my research lab at @cuboulderphysics and pushing me to do it

On top of a 14,000-foot Colorado peak, scientists are testing whether time itself ticks differently and how precisely we can measure it. 🏔️⏰
At the summit of Mount Blue Sky, researchers from @CUEngineering , @NIST and @NOAA are using a portable optical atomic clock to test Einstein’s prediction that time moves faster the farther you get from Earth’s center.
Success could mark a breakthrough for both fundamental physics and applied measurement science, advancing tools that one day might help predict volcanic activity, monitor rising seas or navigate spacecraft across the solar system.

As part of Latine Heritage Month, we'd love to highlight some of our students leaders!
Cynthia Ortiz-Aviles is majoring in Integrated Design Engineering with an emphasis in Aerospace Engineering and a concentration in Engineering Management.
"Within student societies, I serve as the President of @cuwoaa and am also a member of the @cuboulder_shpemaes . I am involved on campus as a Lattice Scholarship Mentor, supporting other students through mentorship. I chose to study engineering because I have always been interested in math and science, with a particular passion for aerospace & I aspire to contribute to space exploration and space technology.
My favorite moment in my student society was when I officially became president of WoAA and the executive board clapped and congratulated me! In that moment, I truly felt a sense of belonging and recognition as a leader within the college.
Beyond academics, one of my favorite cultural traditions is during the holidays when my family and I drink coquito while decorating our home with Christmas decorations, a tradition that keeps me connected to my roots.
Campos and the staff have played an instrumental role in shaping my journey at CU Engineering. They have not only provided me with academic support and resources but also created a welcoming community where I feel seen and valued. The staff’s encouragement has helped me build confidence in my leadership roles, take risks in new opportunities and balance my academic and extracurricular commitments. Whether it’s offering mentorship, advice or simply checking in, their guidance has given me the reassurance that I don’t have to navigate this path alone. Campos has become a space where I can grow both professionally and personally and I credit much of my success and sense of belonging to the support I’ve received there.
One of my biggest goals this academic year is to host the third annual WoAA Conference, which will bring professionals to campus for panels and include a career fair to connect students with opportunities in aerospace."
