At 9:15 am on Sunday, October 12, SRL successfully launched Mamba III to an altitude of 89,825 feet! The vehicle reached Mach 3.36 and was fully recovered. After 2 full-scale static fires and 2 flight attempts, this resounding success marks the final chapter of the Mamba campaign.
Thank you so much to the amazing team whose expertise and persistence made this achievement possible! Your commitment through every challenge and milestone over the past three years has been instrumental to the success of the Mamba project. This accomplishment is a direct reflection of your hard work and dedication; Congratulations, Mamba team! Next up: Spaceshot! 🚀

Mamba III is on its way! 🔥
On Sunday, SRL conducted a full-scale motor test for Mamba III, generating over 80,000 Ns of impulse— our most exciting static fire of the year! This marks a major milestone in our flight preparations, bringing us one step closer to launch. A huge thank you to all the team members who made this possible!
FULL DURATION FOR BOOMSLANG’S LAST HURRAH! 🔥🚀
Last Saturday, liquid rocket Boomslang was static fired for the final time, generating 120 lbf. We are so proud of our Liquids team for wrapping up this long term project with a bang. A huge thank you to the team members who made this possible!
Huge congratulations to our members joining the aerospace industry this summer! It’s an honor to help our students gain team-based, hands-on learning experiences that will help them make an impact in industry. We’re super proud of their accomplishments and the incredible amounts of work they have put in to get to this point! 🚀
Happy Earth Day from 89,825 ft up. 🌍🚀
Mamba III flew Mach 3.36, captured this view, and came back home. Successfully launched & recovered from Friends of Amateur Rocketry (FAR), CA.
No better day to appreciate the planet we launch from.
8 Rockets. 8 Successes. 🚀
We headed down to Pueblo on Saturday for the SRL L1 Certification flight day, and the team absolutely crushed it. From 5:00 AM nerves to 100% recovery, everyone walked away Level 1 certified!
To get L1 certified, you have to build the rocket, assemble the motor, and, most importantly, recover it in one piece. We maintained our 100% success rate this semester!
Witness the largest composite wind in SRL history. 🧵🔥
The Solids Team just completed the largest composite wind in SRL history. This 8-inch R-motor casing is a critical precursor to our upcoming Spaceshot serving as the test hardware for our next major static fire.
Big things are coming for the Solids Team. Stay tuned. 🚀
We wanted to take the time to thank all of our sponsors who made this year possible. As a student-run organization, we rely on sponsorships and donations to support our mission. Without our sponsors, we would not have been able to design, manufacture, test and fly. Thank you for supporting us, and we’re so excited to show what’s coming next!
SRL has successfully static fired its 8” diameter One Grain Test Bed Motor, “Chug Jug!”
This test marks a major milestone, validating critical motor hardware, GSE, and key manufacturing processes for the upcoming R-Class Spaceshot motor.
While the overall nozzle architecture was proved, anomalies were observed in the diverging section related to ablative performance. As a result, updated materials will be implemented moving forward.
We would like to also extend a huge thank you to our sponsors who have made this static fire possible.
Next up, Spaceshot motor static fire!
Thank you all for joining us at our full and subteam new member meetings! We can’t wait to work with you all. Keep an eye on Slack for more ways to get involved! 🚀
