I always believed that you have to take the bad, just as you take the good. If anything, this year has helped reassure me that I’ve had the right way of looking at things. At times, it was tough… very tough. However, there were some moments that I never thought I would get to experience. #happynewyear
“Hardway” is a wrestling term for bleeding out by accident. It’s also the title of Raymond Pettibon’s current exhibition at @52walkerstreet . Organized by @ebotron , the show pairs Pettibon’s drawings with two nights of all-out hedonism. On both nights, Pettibon watched from a gilded throne as crowds packed the space for hardcore performances by @dead_city_punx_ and @haywire617 and live wrestling matches with AEW’s Darby Allin and MCed by @csramone that saw no shortage of blood-spitting, belt-whipping, moshing, and bodyslamming.
CULTURED captured the action ringside.
I went old school for this death match logo, and threw it back to a time where the Funk brothers were scarring the psyche of every child in the south.

On January 12th, 2025, I had to say goodbye to “Beautiful Barbara”… my Mother. She was taken from us by a harsh and unforgiving disease known as Lewy Body (DLB). It’s a form of dementia that also brings on elements of Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s. Those afflicted, generally live 5 to 8 years after exhibiting symptoms.
My mother exhibited signs of this disease approximately eight years ago. She never let it get her down. She was a hard-working woman, a strong woman, and was always a fighter. Even when my mother could barely walk, she fought through physical therapy, and was diligent with her exercises. This disease was not going to take her. Not without a hell of a fight.
On Christmas of 2024, my mother was admitted to the hospital. She was suffering from extreme hallucinations, brought on by the dementia. Two days later, she was placed in hospice. She returned home, where she was able to pass with my father and I caring for her and remaining at her side. She got to see her cats, and had plenty of time to say goodbye.
She knew she was dying. She knew this affliction had finally taken its toll. However, she never complained. She never asked to die. Instead, she asked if we would be all right without her.
I will miss my mother. Her memory and her spirit will never leave me. She was my biggest supporter, my biggest fan, and ultimately my best friend.
