Had a few direct messages from people saying they couldn’t figure out how to find local bands using @bandcamp so I made this video to show how to do it :) Once you knew a few local independent bands the best way to find new ones is to check out the bands on the lineups they’re playing in your area (it’s quite rare it’ll be one solitary act on a lineup). Any advice or tips for finding local music please share in the comments section. It’s not as easy for musicians with no industry backing to find an audience as it was when I first started, even within their local scene. It can feel redundant, but trust me - every comment, like, share you give musicians doing it independently helps them build momentum and is greatly appreciated ❤️

A lot of discussion about one specific band has been all over my social media this past day about how they’ve marketed their music. This marketing is common practice in the music industry and as gross as it is, it’s not surprising, the music industry has operated in similar ways for decades. Why not consciously try and shift your ears and support towards the music scene rather than the music industry? Here is a tip for how to get started the next time you’re looking for new music. I realise if you’re seeing this it’s most likely because you follow crywank on social media and I’m just preaching to the choir, but if this discussion can be about actually supporting artists who are persevering despite the industry dominance rather than just talking about HOW the industry dominates that would be cool.

Hey, we changed distributor for ‘Tomorrow is Nearly Yesterday And Everyday is Stupid’ and since then I’ve been getting messages everyday asking when it’ll be back on YouTube Music. Just posting this to let you know the album is finally back up on YouTube and YouTube Music, although we have lost all of our plays and comments so if you want to get in an argument in a comments section to vicariously get us back into the algorithm you know where to go 🧠👈 I also recently watched ‘Les Parapluies de Cherbourg’, ‘Les Demoiselles de Rochefort’ and ‘Velnio nuotaka’ (The Devils Bride) and I’ve been getting a real kick from seeing all these musicals in other languages. Crywank - List of Legends (demo) Here is a demo for a new song I wrote recently. I’ve been working on the new Crywank album and wanted to share some progress with people. This was my first time playing it through and filming myself whilst remembering all the lyrics, after finishing the video of myself I figured I’d impulsively share it. This is the sort of thing I used to do online but considered myself ‘above’ doing for a while, as it so happens though I’ve ended up writing and scrapping songs over and over this past five years so I’m hopeful sharing this will help cement these songs for me. This is just a quick demo in my living room, lyrics may change (or be moved to a different melody completely), the song title may change, the entire thing may changed. I just wanted to share my process a bit more again. My goal is to get five acoustic demos for the album recorded to put on bandcamp to raise money to record the new album with the band. I intend to do this in the coming month. This is also the first time (apart from maybe the song ‘blood’) where I’ve been more vocal about global politics, I hope the lyrical switch from “Omg I still hate myself” isn’t too jarring.
