Introducing Jules Leaño who is presenting 'Panagkamarerwa', an expanded cinema performance at 7:30PM.
'Panagkamarerwa' is an expanded cinema work inspired by Filipino traditions of remembering the dead.
Jules Leaño is a Scottish-Filipino filmmaker, artist, and visual anthropologist working across Scotland, Germany, and the Philippines. Their practice explores how visual media shapes knowledge—examining how we understand distant places and times, and the socio-political realities that emerge from these perceptions.

Artiste sonore, musicienne et productrice écossaise-portugaise basée à Dundee, en Écosse, son travail multidisciplinaire explore les thèmes de l’identité et du lien à la croisée du son, de l’espace, de l’environnement et de l’écologie. Elle présentera une nouvelle pièce utilisant la voix et un synthétiseur modulaire pour plonger le public dans un état de liminalité sonore totale.

SHHE is a Scottish-Portuguese sound artist, musician and producer based in Dundee, Scotland. Her multidisciplinary work explores themes of identity and connection at the intersection of sound, space, environment and ecology. SHHE will present a new body of work which utilises voice and modular synthesiser to immerse the audience in a state of complete sonic liminality.

Ahead of our Cryptic Nights double bill next Thursday, we are introducing artist and composer Alexandra Bell!
Bell will present HUMMM, a multi-channel sound installation. Blending abstract sound with familiar fragments, HUMMM invites audiences on a sonic journey, with viewers moving through the installation, exploring the ways in which our perception of information subtly changes depending on how and where we listen.

Graeme Stephens is a guitarist and composer whose work moves fluidly between jazz, folk and free improvisation. Born in Aberdeen, he has developed a distinctive voice that spans virtuosic playing and exploratory, free-form soundscapes.
As both a performer and composer, his work reflects a deep curiosity for collaboration, storytelling and the emotional possibilities of sound.

Get to know the Folding Songs artists: Svetlana Spajić
A leading voice in Serbian traditional music, Svetlana Spajić is a Belgrade-based singer specialising in rare microtonal vocal techniques. For over 30 years, she has travelled across the Balkans, learning directly from elder village singers and preserving deeply rooted oral traditions.
She has performed alongside renowned artists including Hronis Aidonidis, Domna Samiou, Yanka Rupkina, and Stella Chiweshe, and collaborated with figures such as Robert Wilson, Marina Abramović, Zeitkratzer, and William Basinski.

Alexandra Bell works across sonic arts to challenge entrenched ideologies and belief systems. Through sound, composition, moving image, sculpture, writing, and performance, she creates immersive, multi-sensory experiences that question perspective and foster empathy. Her work draws on the idea of Gesamtkunstwerk—‘total artworks’ that engage the full spectrum of the senses.
