Only Bearable Through Movement is a new piece by drummer and composer Anders Vestergaard composed for Crush String Collective.
The piece takes its departure in the opposites; standstill and movement. A place between the impossibility of complete standstill and the horror of constant acceleration; an utopian equilibrium of movement.
Music where the point of gravity is constantly negotiated and where bodily presence and mind expansion goes hand in hand.

We are deeply honored to receive the Danish Music Awards (Danish Grammys) for best alternative jazz release 2024 alongside the stars of Rasmus Holm Quartet ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
September last year, between the arrivals of four crush babies, we went to The Village Studio in Vanløse to record Rasmus’ amazing compositions. The result is a fusion between composed material, crush impros and the beautiful sound of this modern jazz quartet.

Denne aften uropfører det anmelderroste Crush String Collective værket Dobbeltgænger der er komponeret af trommeslager og komponist Anders Vestergaard. Værket baserer sig på en række elastiske rytmiske strukturer, som komponisten i årevis har arbejdet med i sine slagtøjsværker, og som nu udfoldes i sin dobbeltgænger-form for to celli og to bratscher. Det er repetitiv musik med musikernes fælles fysik som fundament, som med ceremonielle bevægelser og intens kropslig tilstedeværelse forsøger at transcendere netop disse kroppe og selve koncertrummet.
Crush String Collective er et eksperimenterende strygerkollektiv, der gennem deres sammenlagte 150 års instrument-erfaring, non-hierarkiske struktur og homogene sammenspil, tager lytteren med ind i en pludselig forelskelse i strygeinstrumenternes sarte og levende klang. De har brudt med den klassiske musiks strenge rammer og leger med øjeblikkets magi. De udforsker strygerlydens mange aspekter. De skaber musik der strækker sig fra den storslåede klang af et strygeorkester til atmosfærer af små lyde af træ og strenge, som møder bue og hår....
