Join us on Wednesday 3 December 2025 (9am GMT / 5pm BJT) for the launch of Arts and Technologies in China: Connecting Futures, a new British Council commissioned report exploring China’s fast-evolving landscape across AI, VR, gaming, and digital heritage, and outlining opportunities for UK–China collaboration. This online webinar will include a presentation of the report’s key findings by its author, Gary Zhexi Zhang, alongside case studies from sector leaders such as Dillion Zhang, founder of MANA, a leading Chinese creative technology company, and Zhang Daming, VR Director at Felttime Studio, who will share first-hand insights from their work. We’ll also hear reflections from a recent research trip to China by Tom Millen (Director, Crossover Labs) and Verity McIntosh (Principal Investigator & Director, Immersive Arts), developed in partnership with Gary Zhang and the British Council. They will offer sector insights and practical pathways for future international collaboration. We’re delighted to announce the shortlist for the inaugural Annwn Prize for Excellence in Immersive Storytelling! ⭐️ Four extraordinary works from France, UK/Greece, UK, and USA have been recognised for their bold originality, emotional depth, and pioneering use of technology to push the boundaries of storytelling. Launched by @walesmillenniumcentre and produced with Crossover Labs, the Annwn Prize celebrates excellence in immersive storytelling, recognising artists who make audiences an active part of the story and explore new ways of experiencing reality. Our Principal Investigator and Director, Verity McIntosh, and Co-director of @crossoverlabs and Consortium Partner Tom Millen joined the Sandbox Immersive Festival in Beijing today, representing Immersive Arts UK and @uwebristol . A fantastic opportunity to share perspectives on the UK XR landscape, and to learn from the incredible innovation happening across China — from artists to venues, commissioners to audiences.

Today we announce the 25 works nominated for the inaugural Annwn Prize - the first global award that celebrates excellence in immersive storytelling. ⭐ Heddiw rydyn ni'n cyhoeddi'r 25 darn o waith a enwebwyd ar gyfer Gwobr Annwn - y wobr fyd-eang gyntaf sy'n dathlu rhagoriaeth mewn adrodd straeon ymdrochol. ⭐ 🎉 Selected by a community of international curators and commentators, the nominated works demonstrate excellence in compelling storytelling; make audiences an active and integral part of the piece; and utilise technologies to enhance, augment or impact our sense of reality. The Prize was launched in 2025 by Canolfan Mileniwm Cymru | Wales Millennium Centre and is produced with @crossoverlabs . Introducing the newest member of our producing team 🥳 Joseph Cutts (he/him) Producer for North England Based at @crossoverlabs Joseph is an artist, curator, and film programmer, having exhibited and curated programmes across the UK, Europe and the Americas. His installations have been displayed alongside works from museum collections as well as in response to works by Bauhaus Masters. He has previously worked as: Curator, S1 Artspace; Curator & Artistic Advisor, Instytut Adama Mickiewicza, Warsaw and Head Curator of Sheffield DocFest’s Alternate Realities programme. 📸 James Clarkson
