We saw a quote online from a paramedic recently that said: “Aging is the aggressive pursuit of comfort” And honestly, we haven’t stopped thinking about it since. Because, if anyone would see the effects of this first hand - they would. But what we see, in CrossFit affiliates every day, is the opposite play out. Today is their 6th wedding anniversary 🥹 And for almost the last 6 years, they’ve been coming across the road to CrossFit CBD together. Not perfectly, never ever effortlessly, just consistently. At a stage of life where most people are told to slow down, sit more and make life easier they keep choosing to challenge themselves instead. That’s something that we (and our entire community are so proud of them for). They lift weights, they squat, they learn new things, they walk through the doors together and keep participating in life. And I think that’s really the point. Because comfort doesn’t always lead to health or longevity and it’s not easy in the moment. But the aggressive pursuit of comfort slowly makes life smaller, shorter and a whole lot less accessible. Less movement, less confidence, less capability, less participation, less fun, less everything. Watching these two over the years has been one of the clearest reminders of that for all of us. Workout of the Day⁣ Saturday 260516⁣ ⁣ For 5 cycles, complete as many rounds and reps as possible in 3 minutes of:⁣ 1 rope climb to 15 feet⁣ 9 thrusters⁣ ⁣ Rest 3 minutes. Start each round where you left off. Repeat for 5 cycles. ⁣ ⁣ ♀ 65-lb barbell ⁣ ♂ 95-lb barbell⁣ ⁣ Stimulus and Strategy:⁣ Today, you'll take on a sprint couplet with built-in rest for maximum effort during each AMRAP. Shoot for 2 or more rounds in the first 3 cycles, and try to hold on for the final 2 rounds. Be sure to maintain long arms and high knees on every rope climb pull, while maintaining an efficient foot hook.⁣ ⁣ Intermediate option:⁣ For 5 cycles, complete as many rounds and reps as possible in 3 minutes of:⁣ 1 rope climb to 12 feet⁣ 9 thrusters⁣ ⁣ Rest 3 minutes. Start each round where you left off. Repeat for 5 cycles. ⁣ ⁣ ♀ 55-lb barbell ⁣ ♂ 75-lb barbell⁣ ⁣ Beginner option:⁣ For 5 cycles, complete as many rounds and reps as possible in 3 minutes of:⁣ 3 seated rope lock-offs⁣ 5 thrusters⁣ ⁣ Rest 3 minutes. Expect to spend the most time on the bike — choose a calorie volume that allows you to finish in 3 minutes or less each round. Choose a light sumo deadlift high pull loading that allows you to complete the reps in 90 seconds or less each round. Unofficially 44th in the world after Semifinals. 69 years old, turning 70 in just a few months, and proving that limits are often just stories people tell themselves. Lee Anne not only surpassed her goal last weekend, she even PR’d your deadlift along the way, and gave it everything she had, in every single workout. What also made last weekend so special was watching our community rally behind her through every workout. Semifinals don’t carry the same atmosphere as the Open. Fewer people, quieter moments, so the energy feels different. But the CrossFit Indestri community showed up. You cheered loud, and celebrated all her hard earned efforts.
