Big congratulations to Jide, #Japan External Trade Organization, and all the partners involved on this exciting collaboration.
Working with @toei_animation —the studio behind @dragonballz@onepieceanimeofficial , and Sailor Moon—this is a strong signal of where African storytelling is going.
From our side, we’re proud to support and champion initiatives like this. This is exactly how Nigerian creativity scales—through real partnerships, skills transfer, and global standards.

This week, we spoke to Arise TV at Super Japan in Lagos, about this landmark event that brought together anime lovers, gaming fans, creators, as well as Japanese and Nigerian industry leaders for a powerful celebration of culture and collaboration.
Comic Republic has been in the industry for almost two decades and it was a thrill to showcase our work, connect with passionate fans, and speak on an insightful panel discussion about the future of African animation and the growing creative bridge between Nigeria and Japan.
Super Japan was a glimpse into a future where African and Japanese creators learn from one another, build together, and shape new possibilities for animation worldwide.
Comic Republic’s animation arm CR motion plus is proud to be leading the charge in a groundbreaking move that signals a new era for African animation, as we partner with Arc and Beyond, the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO), and Megumi Okawa, a freelance production manager, working on ONE PIECE since 2023, to produce an animated feature adaptation of the hit Nigerian graphic novel Trials of the Spear coming Spring of 2026.
