The 4th Dumpling Happy Hour is officially a wrap(per)! 🥟 After three successful events in Long Beach and Signal Hill, DHH branched out to West Hollywood. Our host, @dannpiress , chose the Sandy Rollman Ovarian Cancer Foundation (@srocf ) as our cause for this event in honor of Dan’s late mother and the tens of thousands of women who are diagnosed with it each year. I cooked 400 dumplings for the event (I’ve never made so many dumplings in my life) and we ultimately raised $1,700 for @srocf , a DHH record! Alongside @earlsteele and @jeremymasterson , Dan and I are so grateful to everyone who joined us and/or contributed to this cause in support of our event. We are truly stunned and humbled by the power and generosity of our communities. Dan’s apartment really came alive with so much love and joy, and we felt every bit of it. Thank you. The five dumpling varietals made for this event spanned the globe: 1️⃣ spicy chicken yuzu gyoza, togarashi, jalapeño, scallions, homemade ponzu, kewpie (recipe by @leeannewong ) 2️⃣ egusi, kale, scotch bonnets, west african red stew, white miso, rose petal harissa-cilantro, suya spice wrapper (recipe by me, suya by @chefkelvinyoung , inspired by @kianomoju and @chefkwameonwuachi ) 3️⃣ ms chi jumbo cheeseburger potstickers, wagyu, comte, @miltoncreamery four alarm cheddar, red onion, worcestershire, bacon-tomato jam, paprika wrapper (recipe by my @chfshirleychung ) 4️⃣ five-spice pork belly, scallions, tobasco soy vinegar dipping sauce, crispy-spicy garlic, shallots & onions (recipe by @leeannewong ) 5️⃣ revueltas “pupusa” dumplings, refried frijol roja de seca, quesillo, chicharron, masa harina, spicy avocado sauce (recipe by me, sauce by my love, @chefnininguyen ) I’m hoping to host the next Dumpling Happy Hour next—where shall we do it at??? 👀 P.S. Saturday, May 10, 2025 - Survivor Los Angeles: Season 5. 🔥 4th Place (of 18) . I got to play this fun lil’ simulation of the popular reality competition series over the course of ~13 hours at a sprawling LA park. Strangers became new friends and I fought my heart out to make it way deeper than I ever believed I’d go. Swipe through here for some pics and clippies of the experience. . My Story: I was in a fine position in my starting tribe, but I took control at the swap when I flipped on my original tribemates to work with newcomers Chris (who became my number one) and Abike. However, we kept losing immunity challenges, so despite running the game on my side of the tracks, I entered the merge completely neutralized—few numbers and I hadn’t even encountered over 50% of the remaining players. Chris’ allyship and hard work kept me safe for the next two votes, and then I went on an immunity run in the Top 8/7/6 rounds. Unfortunately, I lost Chris during this period and had little agency while a larger alliance called the shots. At Top 6, however, I connected with Anna and Dylan (whom I had no prior working history with, whatsoever), and teaming up with them advanced me to the Final 4 even when I didn’t win immunity at Final 5. When my dear friend, Queen Sara, won the Final 4 immunity, that was it for me! ✌🏼 . At the beginning, I wanted to go to Final 3 with @niceworksara and @thetaraizadi , but then at the swap, I pivoted to my beloved trio with @seecaines and @abikesonubi . In the end, I sat in the Final 4 alongside @a_smurphy , @dylandesu , and the goddess of victory, Sara! I even got a new cousin out of the deal in @_ivyhawkins ! Honestly, there were no duds in the entire cast. Everyone was INCREDIBLE and fun to be around. And I think we delivered an entertaining season. Thank you so much to @gavin.cho and the @survivorlosangeles team for a day that’s sure to be a lasting memory. Apply for their next season! 🌻
