Moments: Projected on a corner store located in my hometown a block from a pivotal landmark in my childhood, “And Then Some” conveys abstract expressions that reinterpret multiple ever-winding narratives anchored by conviction, resilience, and endurance. Grateful to have been updated and equipped during my research trips back home with direct accounts of how the community has been affected due to various social and economic factors over the years. As a means to continue to preserve oral tradition and represent overlooked dynamics in my work, some of those accounts actually inspired the mural in real time during the project. Much love to the store clerks for all the snacks and the homies for holding it down during the late night sessions. ————— “And Then Some” (2023) was organized and supported by @morethan_art in conjunction with my solo exhibition at @1708gallery . Appreciate all the family, friends, and community that pulled up to the reveal. Documented by my brother @king_kg . Location: 1321 Mechanicsville Tpke Richmond, VA “Many Moons” on view at @1708gallery October 20 - December 10 Curator: @rosxtta Artist Talk: Nov 10/7-8p Interactive Art Performance: Nov 11/1-3p Details for both can be found via the link in my profile. We invite you to join us for an invite-only studio showcase at Huey Lightbody’s personal studio in Philly, PA. As Lightbody prepares for his debut presentation at NADA NY and an upcoming solo exhibition in NY, he is welcoming a select group of stewards, collectors, curators, writers, consultants and supporters to his studio. He is very excited to share new works and shifts in narrative processes. Just completing a very successful debut presentation at the NADA Miami art fair, Lightbody looks forward to writing new chapters and sharing these experiences with his growing network. He continues to evolve and develop consistently as an emerging artist and we are enthused to share this journey with you and the artist. If you are interested in joining us for the studio session, please send us an email to register. Sponsor: Blackstone Brothers Distillery -—— Private Studio Session Saturday, May 9th 12pm-6pm

2 weeks from now, I will be opening my private studio for another intimate collector experience. This space functions as a nexus of time and opportunity to engage with myself as an artist and practice as purpose. Intentionally set the weekend before @newartdealers NY to provide a fully immersive point of connection outside of the fair. Meet me in Philly May 9th. 12pm-6pm Contact for further details. To protect my peace and my space, any expressed interest of attendance will be screened for congruence and alignment. Bless

As Southside Contemporary Art Gallery continues to grow and develop its creative presence, we have curated a recurring group exhibition of emerging artists with a primary focus on engaging new and experienced collectors. “Keep it 1000” houses works by 9 artists immersed within several diverse practices and media to include painting, fiber, sculpture, collage and photography. All works are priced at or near $1000, creating accessible entry points into contemporary fine art. Select works were chosen through joint curatorial navigation echoing the intentionality and authenticity of practice and process appreciated amongst the artists. We will offer programming focused on fine art collection, gauging artists, establishing trusted relationships with galleries, and more. We are driven to continue to create ways to not only provide entry points into fine art and access to emerging artists, but also create relationships with community members focused on education and empowerment. Empowering the community through exposure and education is vital for the arts and we aim to continue to become a fundamental component within the wider creative ecosystem. Christina M. Installation views from our recent group exhibition, “Ode to the Anomalous” [this book will never be complete finished done wrapped up finalized will float through whatever we can label as forever see no end to the telling of our stories tall tales to legend very discreetly through history we are its entirety bury us how this is only the beginning a start to no finish run on sentence for us all to overlap outpace what was ever possible we never decided those limits nor any these pages are simply categories I can be lost in you forever this book is a failed attempt at us nonetheless an attempt was made] Bookmarks can serve as breaks in progress, strategic pauses, and archival anchors. Distinctly holding their own weight across time and intention, these conscious moments become more than mere placeholders. The current curatorial bookmark represents an encapsulated mark of personal and relational reflection surveying practice, positionality, perseverance and purpose. The group exhibition serves as a written note in the margins pinning the present and creating future entry points. Through presented select works and installation, the exhibition navigates the intersections experienced between curator, collector and observer. Works scoping across text, abstract, mixed media painting and textile collage transmute the artists’ redirection away from traditional and normalized processes, materials and stories. These narratives materialize a safe space for dialogue utilizing meaning-making processes, ethnography, cultural archiving, and self-excavation as methods to approach and actualize vulnerability, post-modern thought, holistic growth and revolution. Such content have become revolving touch-points for the curator and artists. The operationalization of transference echoes throughout the works resounding within these mirrors creating a tangible matrix for the externalized experience.
