I've never done a fashion Photoshoot at an aviation museum... But I have now!
It was a workshop run by @creativityhubevents where I was the "copilot" for a group of four photographers.
I've not been to this place since 2019, so it was great to be back!
Lots has changed at the museum, but the big DC-10 engine is still very much in pride of place.
Lighting for this was a huge RGB LED behind the fan blades and two 4' LED's in the hands of the amazing Leketa. We waited until the sun was nearly gone to ensure the tubes gave the maximum result.
Trust me, this isn't as easy and Leketa made it look.
Balancing in "inappropriate" shoes, working in a tight space but mostly holding those tubes out at arms length needs some serious strength!

The promised Premium Big Film PhotoWalk experiences have just gone live! 🫣
We’ve worked closely with @creativityhubevents to build something that (we think) is truly amazing. Two separate venues that will be COMPLETELY themed, with 6 different models at different shooting stations, with professional lighting set-up (done for you!), and expert photographers on hand to help you capture INCREDIBLE images on film 💪🏼🎞️
*The tickets include two rolls of premium Kodak film (Portra or T-Max; in the speed and format you’d prefer on the day!); development and scans for those films; and entry into the Big Film PhotoWalk photo competition as with all other events on the day.
We’re keeping it deliberately small and bespoke so there will only be 30 tickets available for each location. You’ll be split into 6 groups of 5 photographers and rotate through the different modelling stations across 3 hours. LOTS of chances to get incredible photos, LOTS of chances to chat to fellow film shooters - compare notes, experiment, learn from each other as well as the tutors on hand 🥰 🎞️
All photos in this carousel are real models in these real venues. Admittedly most on digital (sorry!) although I’ll give 1000 WonderPoints to the first person to guess which one is on film 😉 and an extra 1000 if they guess which film!
A note on models: we will have clear guidance on how best to work with professional models, code of conduct etc - ticket-holders will be expected to read and sign this in advance. We are also working with @creativityhubevents to ensure that there is good diversity of models on the day.

You can't do Film Noir without smoke and you can't photograph at a historic train station without smoke, so for this workshop I brought lots of smoke options!
But you also can't control the wind. So when the breeze got too much I switched to hand holding the SmokeNinja Pro "Trident" in front of the camera!

The after hours workshop in the Creator Playground (The Photography & Video Show 2026) turned out to be an out of this world experience!
Organised by @creativityhubevents we took over the whole zone at the end of day 1 of @thephotographyshow 2026 in Birmingham.
I was given the South Korea zone and outer space zone to set up some lighting although TBH all I really had to do here was give Evie a pair of 4' light tubes and let her go!
Massive thanks to the 45 attendees who made this one off event so amazing and the team who put it together.

Yesterday, when the show closed to the public, we took over the Creator Playground to host a sold out crowd of 45 photographers for a private and exclusive workshop with 3 incredible educators. Thank you to everyone who joined and who brought their cameras and their creativity.
