As part of Cruinniú na nÓg, Creative Monaghan, Creative Cavan and partners invite children with additional needs and their families to Explore & Wonder – a gentle, sensory‑friendly creative day designed to be welcoming, inclusive and calm.
Explore & Wonder offers a wide range of relaxed, hands‑on creative workshops including printing, bushcraft, circus skills, messy play and more. Activities are designed so children and young people can explore, express themselves and discover creativity at their own pace, in an environment that supports different sensory and access needs. This is a family‑friendly event where parents and carers are encouraged to take part alongside their children.

Reels: The Emyvale / The Wild Irishman / The New Line to Loughaun
The Emyvale reel was a favourite of Pat McKenna. In 1987 when RTÉ radio (The Long Note) came to record him, he taught this tune to then presenter Mairead Ní Mhaoinigh @maireadnia & Mairead was that impressed with it, she recorded the tune with @altantrad !
In the video, we gained access to Pat's old home, and recorded the very tune by his old Fireside in ómós to Pat and to re-remember that very night in 1987.
Anyway, enough blethering from us, we hope you enjoy!

🌼Celebrate Bealtaine in County Monaghan🌼
Bealtaine takes place every May, celebrating the ancient festival of Bealtaine (or Beltane), traditionally held on May 1st to mark the midpoint between the spring equinox and the summer solstice—and the joyful beginning of summer. The word Bealtaine is still used in the Irish language today and means the month of May.
Bealtaine is a nationwide festival that brings people together to inspire creativity in later life, celebrating the skills, experiences and artistic talents of older people across Ireland.
📚 We have a fantastic programme of events running throughout May, with something to suit everyone.

Fiddles by the Fireside.
Through support from @creativemonaghan we are delighted to be releasing a series of videos which reimagine and celebrate the musical ves and times of our grand uncles Pete and Pat McKenna, fiddlers from Carrickroe whose lives spanned the years 1916 to 2005.
One a postman and the other a farmer, they lived and played through every era and change in traditional music and indeed Irish life in the past 100 years.
Míle buíochas le @creativemonaghan agus @monaghan_coco as an tacaíocht.
