Hello you lovely people! 🤗 I thought I should probably introduce myself to those of you who do not know me yet. I’m Bridget, a printmaker based on the south coast of the UK. I make work that is inspired by the things that I love, including places I have visited, film, tv, literature and nature. I love all things print and am lucky enough to work for the best (in my biased opinion) printmaking shop and studio, Handprinted.
The majority of my work is printed using the intaglio method of drypoint. I make my plates using drypoint plastic and scribe my design into them using an etching needle. The plates are then inked up and printed on dampened paper through an etching press.
I use my profile as a visual diary, sharing my process, new techniques I am exploring and the finished prints that I produce for my Etsy shop (link in bio 😏).
It’s nice to meet you! I hope you enjoy following along 🥰 #printmakersofinstagram
I couldn’t work without these two! 🪛
On the left is a 2mm etching needle and on the right a knurled drypoint needle. The knurled needle has a really sharp, fine point which is perfect when working so small. I like the 2mm needle for lighter mark making and soft shading. Both tools are from @handprinteduk (tagged) #printmakersofinstagram
Experimenting with screen printing onto aluminium as a resist for etching… I definitely didn’t leave this in the copper sulphate for long enough but very intrigued by the results… #printmakersofinstagram
Honing in on the finer details & the areas of this print that I love the most 🌾 I am actually rather impressed with the writing on the sign post considering how small it is and that I wrote it backwards 😂
It’s so close to being finished 🤗 #printmakersofinstagram
Almost finished! 🙌
I have been working on this one for what feels like forever but we’re finally on the home stretch! This is my first proper test print since adding more detail to the foreground. There are a couple of areas that need some attention but it is so nearly finished 🤞 #printmakersofinstagram
The Sweet Pea: The flower of April, meaning blissful pleasure, gratitude, departure & farewell. Sweet peas also represent cherished memories or nostalgia 💛 #printmakersofinstagram
