At Creativity: The Ripple Effect, we celebrated the artists, creatives and organisations shaping the Thames Estuary and asked an important question: what needs to happen next for creativity to truly thrive?
Our speakers shared their personal and professional journeys to prompt deeper thinking about personal and collective impact.
Throughout the day, ideas, conversations and energy were captured live in a mural by
@thinkvisually ’s Jess and Ollie, a collective reflection of the room and a vision for what comes next.
Together, people spoke about the need for:
- Fair pay for artists
- Support for creative businesses
- More opportunities for young creatives
- Sustainable local creative infrastructure
- Greater visibility and access
- Accountability to and with our communities
- Sustainable careers in the arts and cultural industries
- More space for risk, experimentation and collaboration
We also heard from inspiring speakers including Sho Shibata CEO from
@outdoorartsuk , who reflected on the importance of arts access, outdoor arts and values-led leadership through his own professional journey.
Kwame Safo from the
@britishcouncil shared how his own creative practice, and understanding of local resources and culture, has enabled him to advocate for the arts on an international stage.
Thank you to everyone who attended, and a huge thank you to our incredible speakers for sharing their insight, experience and inspiration.
