I’m limping into @uspapower Ultra Nationals with this nagging pec strain.
@jesus.m64 with 418 to hit a singles week total of 1069 - way above his previous comp.
@creatinecar with 600 to hit a singles week total of 1508 - right above his comp total.
I did my best to protect my under grip side pec by pulling 661 with straps for a singles week total of 1723. Irritated I’m hurt, but happy I to still be able to compete.

Some elaboration:
I have longer femurs and subpar mobility, so switching to low bar squatting gave me a much more efficient bar path and made me instantly stronger.
I had a bad habit of sticking my elbows out behind while squatting, which made me pitch forward during my squat.
I used to brace breathing only through the nose, but I’ve discovered that if I breath in first through my nose, then fill up my lungs through my mouth, my brace is stronger.
1: When you are at a higher body fat percentage, it’s very common to only have an appetite for junk food. That makes it difficult to stay consistent with eating clean whole foods like lean meats, fruits/veggies, and rice.
2: Looking soft is going to be inevitable, but if you are someone who was under 15% body fat and you’re creeping into the 20%+ range (30%+ for women), it’s best to be honest with yourself and accept that it’s time to lean out again.
3: If it’s becoming difficult for you to hit your maintenance calories, you’re likely hitting a point where your appetite is becoming stagnant. The best response to this situation is to go into a calorie deficit, even if it’s just for a few weeks, and your appetite will pick back up.
