Following just one week training with @tukthedane , our Weight(less) team’s technical level has risen significantly, and the wider group work has stepped up noticeably as well. We recently spent a week training with Tuk Frederiksen, an experienced acrobat and coach (from @collectif_xy ) who specialises in working with group collectives. @tukthedane supported the core Weight(less) team in refining and developing their trio technique, while also leading three afternoon sessions with Mimbre’s wider group of associated acrobats. He created space for everyone to contribute and grow. While consistently raising the level of the work, he maintained a calm, welcoming and inclusive atmosphere throughout. Not content with just being in our cast for Weight(less) this year, @createdbysolomon will also be Mimbre’s second ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR! We are beyond thrilled to deepen our working relationship with Rebecca and can’t wait to see what she brings to Mimbre’s work. In additon to her performing credits, since 2021 Rebecca has been forging her career as a director. First with her semi-autobiographical show Second-Hand Child (2021), then as a director in Sheffield's 2023 Bank Cohort. She has been an assistant director for We Could All Be Perfect (2023), Is Dat U Yh? (2024) and By Their Fruits (2024) for which she was nominated for best choreography at the Off West End Awards. She has gone on to be Associate Director/Circus Director of the UK premier Andre Campra’s Opera, Le Carneval de Venise (2025), staged by Vache Baroque. She is currently Associate Director at Mimbre and Associate Artist at @upswingaerial Rebecca is easily recognised, on and offstage: her distinctive sustainable fashion and phenomenal hairstyles brighten the British circus scene. She champions queer and black circus performers - in community and in artistic practice, integrating storytelling into movement. We are absolutely thrilled to announce our new Weight(less) cast for 2026: Rebecca Solomon, Julia Chan and Silvia Fratelli! Kicking off with @createdbysolomon : Rebecca is an award-winning choreographer, theatre maker-director and circus artist. Starting as a dancer specialising in authentic jazz era dance such as Lindy-Hop and Charleston, she won competitions throughout the UK and Europe. She shifted her practice towards circus in 2018 and began her circus career with performances in Hive City Legacy (2018), Fierce Sisters (2018) and Splash! (2019). Le Carnaval de Venise//the drama, the gondolas, the amore. Brilliant month spent as Associate/Circus Director with some bloody great opera singers, swipe to see the reality of the shenanigans. Mimbre’s first group of Associate Directors are helping us brainstorm ideas for future research, projects and productions, to allow ourselves to put financial worries to the side and dream creatively for a bit. Then we'll put our brains together to see what dreams we can make into reality... Watch this space! @ariellelauzon is a Canadian circus artist who first came to the UK to work with us on The Exploded Circus! Since then she’s taken the UK circus scene by storm and can currently be seen in Revel Puck’s shows in Brighton. Arielle has also been part of Mimbre’s Fierce Sisters, The Sofa Dance and Dior Dream Parade. @createdbysolomon is an aerial performer, teacher and director who performed a rebellious Juliet in Mimbre's Fierce Sisters and alongside her dog in The Sofa Dance. She has been a keen and versatile learner in our acrobatic training sessions and Acrolabs, learning all the different positions, from base to flyer! And just like that, one very silly winter season is done. With the most chill and excellent crew I could hope for, this narrating Swan puts down her feathers for a break.
