I’ve tried writing this a few times today. No words will ever be enough. My heart is broken. You were my role model, my inspiration for my work ethic and so much more. You were everything I ever wanted to be, always so kind and compassionate. You lit up every room you entered with your bright spirit and your warmth, making every person you met feel like the most special person in the universe. Photographing you was truly the greatest honour of my life. Capturing your light as your talent shined for all to see was something I will always cherish
A lot of people say they’re my biggest fan, but you really were my number one fan - no question about it. You supported every project and always reached out to talk about my latest shoots or the weird art I was working on. I will forever miss hearing you call my name from across the room, your loving hugs and your kind words. I don’t know if I ever told you how special you were to me but I know you always knew. I will carry the love and life lessons you’ve shown me in my heart forever, my friend

I had to dig through my hard drive to find images for a grant I’m working on and stumbled across these. I remember not being happy with how these specific shots turned out, but as I went through them I really enjoyed the oddity that occurs with using expired film and the unique colours here so I decided to revisit these two years later
A couple of these appear unedited in the original Sound & Sight book, and the bright orange shot of Adrie I actually cut up the negative and intentionally set it on fire to create a different piece that appears in the new edition of Sound & Sight
