📍 Where was Dr. Eshwar? 👀🍄
Answer: deep in the mushroom pod lab.
This week, our students got hands-on with one of the most critical steps in mushroom production: pasteurizing and bagging grains for mushroom inoculation. From preparing clean substrates to sealing grain bags, this lab focused on building the foundation for healthy fungal growth.
Not all magic is visible yet—but this is where it starts ✨
Stay tuned as these bags turn into something amazing.

📍 Where was Dr. Eshwar? 👀🌱
Answer: knee-deep in tomatoes 🍅
Today our PLT 1120: Intro to Horticulture students had their very first lab + orientation out at the CPP Agriscapes Greenhouse! Hands-on from day one, students got to sort and work with different tomato cultivars, learn the space, and get a feel for what plant science looks like beyond the classroom.
From greenhouse basics to cultivar comparisons, this is how we grow learning 🌿
Welcome to the Plant Science fam, PLT 1120!

Andy, Karli and Allan, all graduating Plant Science seniors, have successfully completed their senior project, mushroom cultivation.
Under the direction of Dr. Eshwar Ravishankar, these students have put in tremendous efforts to set up a mushroom cultivation tent and inoculate buckets of straw with blue oyster and lion's mane mushrooms. This has been a 16-week project, and they are ready to sell the fruits of their labor at the farm store!
