“As I reflect on #BlackHistoryMonth, I am inspired by and grateful for the extraordinary leadership of the CSU’s Black presidents and trustees. Their ingenuity, dedication & compassion make the CSU a more vital and equitable institution and their impact will span generations of California students,” says CSU Chancellor Mildred García.
To mark the occasion of Black History Month, we asked some of the CSU's African American leaders to share their journey, what inspires their work and how they use their platforms to effect change in their communities.

CSU Super Sunday is this weekend and CPP is proud to be part of an effort to spread the word about opportunity and access to higher education at predominantly African American churches throughout California.
More than a million people have participated in Super Sunday since its inception in 2005 and our University President Soraya M. Coley (@prescoleycpp ) along with her husband Ron Coley, among others from CPP, will visit Antioch Missionary Baptist Church in Pomona on Sunday to connect with the community.

Over the past couple of days, the Cal Poly Pomona Model United Nations team discussed numerous, contentious topics, diplomatically, in their respective committees whether that be human rights, environment, education, atomic energy, and more.
Because of their immense diligence and ambition, Cal Poly Pomona, once again, took home the OUTSTANDING DELEGATION AWARD which is the highest honor one could receive in the New York conference (1st place)!
Additionally, Cal Poly Pomona’s delegates for the UNESCO committee, Juliana and Cole, won a peer award for the OUTSTANDING DELEGATES IN CONFERENCE. Only two delegates in a committee size like UNESCO receive this recognition.
We are so proud of CPP Model UN for everything they’ve put into this semester, this conference, and for continuing the legacy of winning the highest awards from years ago!
And with that, the Kingdom of the Netherlands moves to adjourn the meeting until NMUN NY 2025. 🇳🇱🇳🇱🇳🇱
The Cal Poly Pomona Model United Nations team rocked their regional conference of the season! 💚💛 With only a week to prepare, out of the six awards given in the General Assembly, Cal Poly Pomona took home half of them. Our freshman delegate, Luca Accad, took home Honorable Mention, our Head Delegate, Ariana Isidoro, took home Distinguished Delegate, and our first year and first conference attendee, Promise Li, took home Outstanding Delegate. Also, a special shoutout to Cole Mcmillin for knowing his Rules so well, he called out a Point of Order and was correct. 👏👏 It was such a pleasure to attend this conference hosted by the lovely @rccmun in preparation for New York. We are more than proud of our bronco delegates and can’t wait to see what they accomplish in New York! 🗽🙌🌟
Yesterday on CSU Super Sunday, @prescoleycpp , her husband Ron Coley, and others from CPP - including alum and current CSU Student Trustee @a.guilarcruz - visited Antioch Missionary Baptist Church in Pomona, connecting with the community and spreading the word about the opportunities and access higher education brings.
For the last 19 years, @thecsu has partnered with more than 100 predominantly African American churches throughout California as part of the #CSUSuperSunday initiative.
