The California State University (CSU) system has restored access to Canvas following a nationwide security breach that affected thousands of educational institutions.
Please keep in mind that you may still encounter access issues for the next several hours. For example, you may be able to log in to Canvas while others may not. Around the country, the Canvas outage is extremely stressful for both students and faculty. Affected campuses are essentially in a holding pattern while experts assess how safe it is to use Canvas on desktop or mobile.
We hope to have an update for you this afternoon, but here's what we can say right now:
1. Check your Humboldt email for updates from your instructors about next steps.
2. Don't open any suspicious emails ever.
3. As soon as new information gets confirmed and vetted, we'll update via email and update this post with a reminder.
Meet Poppy and Yarrow!
For the second season in a row, this bonded pair of American barn owls have returned to the Lodi Wine Visitor Center nest box to raise their young.
Barn owls play an important role in agriculture by naturally controlling rodent populations. They help protect one of California’s most important commodities–winegrape vineyards! By installing nest boxes, farmers support owl populations while reducing the need for rodenticides. Cal Poly Humboldt and UC Davis researchers are currently monitoring over 300 nest boxes across Lodi and Napa Valley as part of this ongoing research.
Now, with a camera inside one of these nest boxes, you can watch it all, from feedings, to chick growth, and daily owl life as it happens.
