‘It’s like real escapism.’ If you look for it, inspiration for the home can be found almost anywhere - and sometimes the projects we learn the most from aren’t houses at all. Hidden within 300 acres of rewilded Devon landscape, Ukai is one of three cabins designed by HÁM Interiors for Cove Valley, where compact living becomes an exercise in thoughtful design. ‘As the final cabin to be completed, its design turned out to be the crazy fun one at the end,’ says Tom Cox. With a space this intimate, tranquillity lies in the careful design detailing and intricate layering, familiar hallmarks of the HÁM design approach, distilled here on a smaller, more immersive scale.
