🌑 [宅生记 Zhaishengji] Closing Programme 𝓐𝓬𝓻𝓸𝓼𝓼 𝓐𝓻𝓬𝓱𝓲𝓹𝓮𝓵𝓪𝓰𝓲𝓬 𝓣𝓱𝓻𝓮𝓼𝓱𝓸𝓵𝓭𝓼 by artist & storyteller Hafiz Rashid @geroda19 🗓 31 Jan (Sat) 🕒 3–4pm 📍 7 Grange Road As 宅生记 Zhaishengji comes to a close, Hafiz Rashid offers a gentle shadow-puppet storytelling session to mark the transition of the space. Drawing from storytelling traditions of the Malay Archipelago, the performance unfolds as an act of gratitude and release—acknowledging the unseen presences, energies, and stories that have gathered throughout the exhibition. Through shadow, voice, and gesture, this quiet closing honours the exhibition as a lived, relational space, held in dialogue with archipelagic traditions of ritual, storytelling, and remembrance. About the Artist Hafiz Rashid is an experienced museum docent and storyteller with a deep passion for the history, culture, folklore, and languages of the Malay Archipelago (Nusantara), with a particular focus on textiles. He often incorporates these textiles into his tours and storytelling sessions. Hafiz has performed at notable events such as Storyfest at The Arts House (Old Parliament) and Singapore HeritageFest, and regularly shares stories from the Nusantara at museums and libraries across Singapore

Coming Soon:”Mountains Aglow”- Jiang Naijun Solo Exhibition 5 September - 8 October 2025 ▪️COSPACE,Shanghai COSPACE is pleased to announce the launch of Jiang Naijun's new exhibition "Mountains Aglow" on 5 September 2025. Jiang Naijun’s creative practice is an experiment in the pursuit of freedom. He crumples and kneads rice paper, allowing its creases to evoke landscapes; assembles fragments of characters to invent new scripts brimming with life; and interprets computer glitches and garbled code as “digital ink landscapes.” Transcending the labels of East and West, he explores the beauty of our era through the interplay of materials and technology. Where Google Maps meets ink-wash algorithms, machine malfunctions transform into moments of wonder. Tradition and technology, order and freedom, chaos and tranquility find reconciliation in his hands. At the heart of this exhibition lies a powerful statement: beauty does not lie in replicating the past, but in nurturing new possibilities in the soil of the present. — Su Jianyuan Plan your Visit 📆2025.9.5-10.8 📍 102, Bldg 7, Moganshan Rd. 50, Putuo Dist., Shanghai ▫️About the Artist Jiang Naijun was born in Shanghai in 1971, graduated from the Shanghai Academy of Fine Arts, and currently works and lives in Shanghai. In his creative career of nearly twenty years, he has held many solo art exhibitions. In recent years, he has begun to focus on the creation and exploration of garbled experimental art. Garbled art refers to the cross-border integration of computer-garbled symbols and Chinese characters, landscapes, and online pop culture. It is a unique contemporary oriental art icon and a new language method created by the collision of ancient classics and new technology. Most of the works are collected by professional institutions and individuals in Germany, France, China, and other places. @naijunjiang © Artist and COSPACE Gallery.

▫️◽️◻️ Artwork Spotlight ◻️◽️▫️ STREET SERIES|Lee Kyoung Mi “Nana is Elsewhere: Jakobinsen Straat 27” On a quiet street in Bruges, the corner of a building unfolds like a fold in time, carrying the projection of “home elsewhere.” For twenty years, the artist lived with her cat Nana, moving across different countries. After Nana’s passing, “home” was no longer tied to a fixed dwelling but scattered through city streets and hidden behind windows. By intertwining a real address with personal memory, this work invites viewers to reflect on the intersection of space and emotion, and to ask: “Is utopia also elsewhere?” — — Visit us at: COSPACE Gallery Shanghai Rm 102, Bldg 7, No.50 Moganshan Rd, Putuo Dist, Shanghai COSPACE Gallery Singapore 26 Duxton Rd, Singapore 089490 For more information, feel free to contact us at: Email: [email protected] / [email protected] #gallery #Shanghai #Singapore #contemporaryart #Korea #KoreanArt #KyoungMiLee

▫️◽️◻️Artwork Spotlight◻️◽️▫️ STREET SERIES|Lee Kyoung Mi The artist’s representative series, ”Street“ is a work inspired by the first external world imprinted in her childhood - the alley. The work is designed as a motif that bridges the inner self and the outer world, which she imagined and explored through texts and books on the desk. The main composition involves Lacan‘s symbolic order applied to the city, the real order represented by waves and fabric, and the imaginary order symbolized by the cat on desk. The thinking subject ”I“ and her counterpart ”Nana“ sit on the desk and read books stacked high like pillars supporting the world. Through this process, they learn about the ”Father’s world“ a realm of rules and structure, and journey toward a utopia in the distance. However, the distant utopia remains an ever-receding mirage, akin to a rainbow. Ultimately, they return, enveloped by the adventurous waves, to the nurturing embrace of Gaia-like ”Mother‘s arms = fabric“ completing the cycle and coming back to the desk. The work, painted on a structured base-relief panel in detail, represents all of us who depart from somewhere on our journeys like the tale of the prodigal son or the story of the bluebird. — — Visit us at: COSPACE Gallery Shanghai Rm 102, Bldg 7, No.50 Moganshan Rd, Putuo Dist, Shanghai COSPACE Gallery Singapore 26 Duxton Rd,Singapore 089490 For more information, we welcome you to drop an email to us: Email: [email protected] [email protected] #gallery #上海 #shanghai #singapore #contemporaryart #korea #Koreanart#kyoungmilee

▫️Artwork Spotlight Her childhood was far from easy. It was her gentle mother who offered refuge, taking her to the church at night. She remembers drifting to sleep and then waking to see her mother praying so earnestly — the church becoming not just a building, but a safe haven, a place where she could breathe and feel safe. Back then, she didn’t think of it as “religion.” For her, it was simply a place of calm. Even now, churches remain symbols of peace. When traveling, she always finds herself drawn to them. Beyond the beauty of old art and history, she feels the invisible weight of countless prayers layered over time — something that makes a church feel alive, inspiring in ways words can’t capture. She often reminds herself of Thoreau’s words: “Here or nowhere is our heaven.” While stepping into a church may bring calm and lift the spirit toward dreams of a perfect world, she believes the greater challenge is to be truly present in the here and now. She asks herself: Am I making this place worth being in? Am I putting things off or blaming others? For her, there is a special irony in carrying those words inside a sacred space. At the center of her personal heaven was always Nana, her cat and companion for 20 years. Wherever Nana was — in the US, Germany, or Korea — felt like home. He lived only in the moment, asking for nothing more than presence and love, teaching her silently what it means to be fully here. Later came Nana Junior, a kitten with stunning mismatched eyes, whom she brought home after Nana passed, longing to fill the void. His life was heartbreakingly short — only four years, cut short by a heart condition — yet his presence left a mark just as deep. Both Nana and Nana Junior are gone now, but their memory remains, woven into her story of home, faith, and peace. - - - Visit us at: COSPACE Gallery Shanghai Rm 102, Bldg 7, No.50 Moganshan Rd, Putuo Dist, Shanghai COSPACE Gallery Singapore 26 Duxton Rd, Singapore 089490 For more information, we welcome you to drop an email to us: Email: [email protected] #gallery #上海 #singapore #contemporaryart #Koreanart #kyoungmilee
