NACHTMEER IS FINALLY HERE! I’m excited to announce the release of my first book, ‘Nachtmeer’. This project has been a transformative experience, and I’m looking forward for you to explore it. Nachtmeer needs to be felt and experienced, and I can’t wait for you to immerse yourself in it! This book features a hauntingly beautiful soundtrack by Troy Pierce. It was brought to life through a collaborative effort with the great Brad Feuerhelm, who art-directed the work with me, and the stunning design work of Giulia Boccarossa. Refugees of the Symbolic Network is a series of funeral music spatialized in the convolution reverb of the King's Chamber of the Giza Pyramid, deconstructing the work of Izz al-Din Manasirah & Sargon Boulus. As an archaeoacoustic study, this work examines sonic architectures of ancient sacred sites. This process is an inquiry into ritualistic submission to utterance as a natural force; to etch a codex of voices of the forsaken, refugees of the symbolic network, the countless lives buried in the belly of the whale that is called history. Tokyo Art Book Fair marks the close of my year of book fairs with Nachtmeer. I’m deeply grateful for these experiences and very happy to end this journey here. Japanese aesthetic sensibilities have long influenced my practice so presenting my book in Tokyo was an important moment for me.
