It’s been a long time since I last showed my face here and said hi.
So — hi everyone! I’m so glad you made it here, for whatever reason.
I started this account many years ago by sharing a lot of my personal life and my photography work — back then, a mix of weddings and family photography.
As I dove deeper into weddings, I basically stopped sharing personal stuff — only the occasional political story. So I guess it’s time to go a bit deeper again (actually, really deep)
Since today is my birthday, I’ll use the occasion to share a bit about myself from the perspective of my younger self. What would have surprised me most about my life now, if someone had told me when I was a teenager?
I would have never thought that
- I would "only" have two children
- I would be talented enough to earn my living as a photographer (and that someone would ever book me to shoot a wedding on a golf course in Santa Barbara by the ocean)
- marriage is really hard work and that I would ever leave my husband (we're back together)
- gardening would make me extremely happy
- the sadness that I felt as a teenager was not just puberty but a full on depressive episode
- there is so much beauty and happiness in the small things that don't cost much money
- I would ever spent some weeks in a psychiatric hospital and that it would feel like such a precious time
- I would live in several different countries and continents but end up in my hometown - very happy
- facism would become so popular again in the western world and that by 2025 a quarter of all Germans would vote for Nazis
- my spirituality would change so much
- every aspect of life is much more fragile than I thought
- i would ever like my eyebrows and booty big
- my greatest weakness would turn out to be my superpower (got an ADHD diagnoses a few years ago which completely turned my life around)
- life after the year 2000 would feel exactly the same as before - except now we pay subscriptions for everything
- in 2025 "empathy" would be called "woke" and be used as a slur
- artificial intelligence would help me to write this text
Thanks so much to everyone who leaves some love here sometimes!!!
What an incredible year it has been!
Not only being named one of the best wedding photographers in Europe but having the most wonderful clients made this year truly special.
I am also thankful for the outstanding second shooters and incredibly talented vendors I had the privilege to work with. I’ve been fortunate to work in some of the most wonderful places in Europe and experience truly heartwarming moments, doing what I do best - capturing love, beauty & human connection.
Thanks to everyone who put their trust in me and my work. It means the world to me.
Pablo and Gwen chose to keep their ceremony very private, with only their parents, siblings, and closest friends as witnesses. "We held our ceremony on a boat, sailing through the canals of Amsterdam where we have made so many memories. After the ceremony, our guests joined us for the cocktail hour, dinner, and the party, bringing the total to around 40 guests. It felt like the perfect balance, deeply intimate at the start, and then warm and celebratory, surrounded by the people we love."

So in love with my couples from last year!
Not only are they some of the most wonderful, warm-hearted people, I also seem to attract the most creative, truly out-of-the-box weddings.
It’s never about following traditions, it’s always about what feels right for them.
Here are a few frames from Gwen & Pablo’s wedding in Amsterdam. As an artist, Pablo customized his suit and even the table setting in his very own signature style. An intimate ceremony took place on the canals, surrounded only by family and closest friends, followed by a dinner and party at the iconic Hotel De L’Europe, right in the heart of the city.

Wishing everyone a wonderful holiday season!
If possible, enjoy lots of time with family and friends, reflect on what you’re grateful for and take a moment to consider what you’d like to change in the coming year - to have a more positive impact on those around you and to take better care of yourself (body & soul).

Never enough wedding content.
Here’s an open, honest review of our wedding — a conversation about intention, design, emotion, and what truly mattered.
Thank you @_anti_bride for the beautiful feature.
