We’re beyond excited to finally share that Corima’s official fourth album (third as current lineup and on SZ) Hunab Ku, is to be released on Soleil Zeuhl records and is now available for pre-sale on Bandcamp! This album has been a long time coming — created with deep intention, then placed on pause by COVID, by life, by transformation itself. 🌀 But like all things rooted in spirit, it waited for the right moment to emerge. Hunab Ku, the Mayan concept of the primordial source, the heart of creation, guides this record. As with our previous albums — Quetzalcoatl and Amaterasu — this music continues our journey honoring our Mesoamerican and Japanese roots while staying true to our love for Zeuhl: ritual, rhythm, power, and transcendence. This is an album about origin, cycles, and becoming. The official release date is February 16, but you don't have to wait until then to put in your pre-order! Your support truly helps independent music like ours continue to exist. This is my love letter to Corima. Where do I begin. I fell in love with zeuhl and @corimaband when we are all still in high school. I met Gopala and Paco at age 15, where they showed me Eskaton, Magma.... Rock In Opposition and introduced me to sounds/colors that changed the way I hear and see the world - and the way I play. It hurts my soul to think we didn't play for a few years, though I knew deep inside that it was never over for us. Life and covid and simply needing some time to breathe and reflect was necessary, I also had to go through some very hard times to learn that Corima (and my spirit) were present with me always. I have known and felt we will be playing this music for the rest of time, and each time we get together confirms this more. But, I refuse to ever let more years pass and I am incredibly ready, excited, and grateful to this universe for uniting us again, for not giving up on us. I am incredibly grateful to Corima for also not giving up on me during years where I was truly giving up on myself. Our music kept me alive in many ways. We just played Prog Day in North Carolina, a prog festival that has a legacy of 30 years, organized by Michael Bennett and a group of passionate music lovers, artists, and musicians. They invited us 12 years ago, and again this year. The love and kindness I (and we) felt from Michael and the prog day crew is incomparable. Their hard work and passion for this diverse genre shows. That's the thing about zeuhl/prog/experimental music - pure passion and dedication drives the decades of legacy that can continue to thrive. Progressive music is v diverse but particularly in our world of zeuhl, many bands and zeuhlheads come from early generations, making us realize throughout the years that our passion for this art is also a great responsibility not only in maintaining these sounds alive but hopefully inspiring others , especially young artists. I feel very emotional writing this, and I am proud proud proud to be part of this mystical and magical band, I love all my band mates with my entire soul and I hope to play with them for the rest of my life, until my fingers just can't anymore. tlazocamati, corima.
