The theme this year is Our Power Our Plant here’s a few things you can do today to reduce your environmental impact - Eat plant based, even eating a plant based diet for one day can reduce your environmental impact greatly and may even influence you to follow it other days. We were thrilled to attend the Skills 26 conference yesterday! We heard from some incredible people and organisations, including @eastkentcollege , @unikentlive , @wirebeltcompanyltd , @kent_further_education , @_creativekent , @skills_england , @screen.south , @dwpgovuk , @laurenedwards.mp , @kentinvictachamber . It was great to hear from such a mix of employers and educators. One comment which stood out to us was from Jo Nolan, of @screen.south : "Working in the creative industries is a proper job". Alongside the other fantastic panels, we got to speak on the final one about the power of apprenticeships for employers and employees. What an incredible talk from Professor Sir Michael Marmot at the launch of the Kent Marmot Coastal Region in Dover today. Here's a summary: Healthy life expectancy, especially in coastal Kent, is plummeting. Excess deaths in the most deprived areas such as Thanet are shocking. Until now, effort has been inversely proportionate to need. The poorest places with the sickest populations have had funding cut for more than a decade. We've failed the next generation, whose lives will be worse than their parents' lives. We need a change in the way we do things. But there's hope. Communities are taking action all over the country. And now we're part of this. The Kent Marmot Coastal Region is a way to make that change. It starts now with partnerships and with people with lived experience at the centre of things. #hope #Marmot #Kent #Thanet #Dover

We had a great time today at the @wearenaturehood meet-up. We heard from @ramsgreatxid , @birdwiseek , @friendsofpierremontpark , @wcgmargate , @danevalleywoods , @officialthanetcouncil , @piefactorymusic and @plastic_free_thanet . Naturehood Thanet gave updates about its plans and how the group is developing, we then heard from @_lorrainew speaking about @ramsgreatxid , and each group around the table had the chance to give their own updates. Finally, we heard from Pie Factory Music and their recent purchase of the building and got a tour of their garden. Margate Creative Land Trust is proud to be #openingdoors for local artists and organisations to access space and networks, growing the local creative economy. We funded 5 paid placements on the Creative Catalyst Thanet scheme for local young creatives, supporting Co-relate to create more opportunities in Margate. These roles were tailored to individual needs, #openingdoors for 16-24 year olds not in work or training (NEET), who would otherwise struggle to get creative work. We had a great time today at the Creative Thanet event Stronger Together: Creative Thanet We heard from speakers including Dan Chilcott and Naomi Cooper-Davis from @margatecreativelandtrust , Dan Richards from @apluscstudios , Ross Buttery, Head of Campus of EKC Broadstairs College Margate Digital Campus. Alongside Elinor Seath, a few of our young people spoke about Creative Catalyst Thanet and our work to help young people get creative work.
