October sunshine lights up the little cutlery bird sculpture perched on a big old saw on the back of the wooden doors at #broadstairsmetalcraft on Broadstairs High street and it's things like this that make my heart sing
April looked like...
I don't think I've ever done one of these month round up videos before. Quite enjoyed it. Lots of stuff last month made me smile a lot. The phone chose the pictures.
Can't decide what to bid for in the @marinestudios_margate secret postcard auction this weekend.
So many brilliant little artworks including from some really stellar artists. V v hard to choose what to go for.
I have actually managed to submit a little artwork of my own too. I won't say if it's featured in this selection or not obviously - it's all top secret.
These are some of my favourites.
From tomorrow Marine Studios are running a four day mini festival 'Words Change Things' with loads going on. Go see!
Obsessed with these walls, now we've finally decorated this room, after taking 15 years π± to choose a colour to replace the inoffensive soft green left by the previous owner. π
It's Petticoat Lane by @emmajanepalin for @coatpaints
- Emma happens to live in Ramsgate and has a gorgeous little interiors and hardware shop on Addington Street there @ourcuratedabode . My clever friend @iamdorisday
Took me in there to teach me about natural pigment paints and I'm now a total convert. Had no idea when I chose the paint that Emma had actually developed the colour and it's part of a special range with her name in it! How grown up is that!? I mean, she told me, but I didn't understand what it meant π«£
The wonderful @twinkletroughton did the decorating and we are thrilled with her work. The room looks stunning. It's an old house with lots of imperfections in the walls, ceiling and old windows but she has achieved an exceptional finish and we really appreciated her skill and the care she took with every detail.
I've even hung one of my artworks on the wall as the revamped space has somehow given me a bit of extra creative confidence that for some reason I've been lacking till now (previously propped against a wall in the spare room since we moved here in 2011. π€·ββοΈ)
Thank you Twinkle, Emma and Sue!
Come with us for a walk through Pierremont Park in Broadstairs and see why we are so passionate about a little corner of our park which is under threat.
I hadn't seen @mark.manders work before today. Loved this little sculpture (thoughtfully positioned in front of an emotive painting by Tracey Emin) and even more so when I read about it on his insta.
We are lucky to have @carlfreedmangallery in Margate. Today was the last day of Crossing into Darkness show, curated by the wonderful @traceyeminstudio . I'm so glad to have seen the show, the overarching premise of which was so very moving. This was my favourite piece π
Thank you to @havishamandcratchit for hosting our wonderful launch party for the Spring @broadstairsbeacon this Thursday, it was an absolute joy - and huge thanks to all who came and everyone who contributed, advertised or agreed to be featured in this issue, as well as all my brilliant @brightsidepublishing colleagues.
Now it's out in the wild you can pick up a copy from any of our stockists around Thanet. Let me know what you think if you have a read. π
The stunning cover image of @by.spltd is by @paulriderphotos
Our next issue will be out in the Summer. Suggestions for stories we can consider for inclusion are always welcome.
