Poetry and community made it happen 💪🏾 A couple of months ago I received an email from the @calendow letting me know that one of their Senior Program Managers referred me and they asked if I’d like to participate in their Belonging campaign. After the initial conversation they asked if I could write an original poem and come out to one of their offices for a few things. An interview related to the housing work I’ve been a part of, a performance of the original poem they commissioned, and a photoshoot. The time frame was pretty tight, but we made it happen! 💪🏾🤎 Over the weekend I received a couple of messages from folks letting me know they’ve seen billboards and banners with my picture on them in Los Angeles and Sacramento! I knew the pictures would eventually be used in that manner, but actually seeing it is pretty fucking dope 😎🙌🏽 Thank you to everyone who continues to support my journey and poetry and big s/o to everyone making sure the important issues get addressed 🤎✊🏾
