Honoured to be back on the BANFF Mountain Film Festival World Tour — two years in a row! This time with “A Sense of Fight” featuring Cal Blanchknox.
Can’t believe it’s happening again — the biggest adventure film tour in the world!
Callan Blanchknox with the FFA of Pineapple Express (27) now Coolum’s most exposed route. Awesome shots captured by @victorhallphotography a couple of months ago at SendFest.
What an honour to have my photo taken by the GOAT of climbing photography @simoncarter_onsight a few weeks ago while working the moves on “Make Coolum Great Again” (28).
It’s nice to have some memories captured every now and then — little reminders of the things we pour so much time and effort into.
This climb was a special one. Earlier this year, I watched Cal Blanchknox piecing together the moves for the first ascent and was blown away by the movement — steep, horizontal climbing with heels, toes, a few big kneebars, and powerful bouldery sequences stacked on top of each other.
It inspired me to grab the camera and make a short film with Cal (scroll back on my feed to check it out). After spending all that time filming, I thought, maybe I should tie in and give it a go myself.
I knew it was at the upper edge of my limit, and for months it felt just out of reach. With a trip coming up, I asked Meg to film so I could remember all the beta for when I came back… but to my surprise, I ended up sending it on camera!
The send was extra special with a crew of friends there cheering me on — a perfect reminder of what climbing’s all about: good people, beautiful places, and a whole lot of fun.
