I’m delighted to — at last — announce that the Grampians Climbing guidebook (2015 Edition) is now available in a full, unedited, digital version! That’s right, the print guidebook sold out several years ago, and now, due to popular demand — and because Grampians Climbing is an extensive and invaluable documentation of the best and safest climbing in Australia’s world-class Grampians — you can download the full book in PDF format. The $15 price will directly help fund our ongoing guidebook work. Thanks for your support! Grab your copy from via the link in my profile, or just go here: .au/grampians-digital Happy climbing, and stay safe. Cheers! Simon 😊

New video up on YouTube! Check it out to see how I got this shot on the hardest route at Coolum with my remote control camera rig - whilst standing on the ground. 📷😊 Video is on my “Simon Carter No Filter” YouTube channel. Link in profile. Let me know what you think! 🤔

A #Velvia moment from the mid-1990s of Malcolm Matheson attempting a project on the False Modesty Pinnacle at Mt Buffalo, Victoristan. I’m not sure if this arete is still a project all these years later, but given the high admin approach and knarlyness of the climbing, that would be my guess. The second photo, showing the whole pinnacle and Malcolm leading Vanity Fair (25) up the middle puts it into context. The project is the arete down to his left. #photographytips #film #climbingphotographytips #climbing #rockclimbing #climbingphotography #photography

Why be a photographer if I also need to also write one thousand words? Can’t some things just speak for themselves? I was just browsing through my archive on a rainy Sunday afternoon and, since when I see shots like this I get reminded of so many darn good things, I wanted to share some 🧗🏻📷❤️. And leave it to you to make of it what you will. Andy Kuylaars with Chris Hampton belaying, Ancient Astronaut (24), The Moai, Tasman Peninsula, Tasmania.

How cool! 😎🤔 Was just scrolling past my archive and this pearler from 1991 caught my eye. Maybe it’s the camo tights, or maybe I just realised how lucky I was to capture some of Simey’s early moments of glory, but I thought it was pretty cool. 😊 Simon Mentz, FA Father O’blivion (26), Taipan Wall, Grampians.

I have just released a new video in which I reveal my new “ground-to-cliff-top”, or “ground-to-climb-top”, remote-control camera rig for the first time. 💥📣📷🎥🎉😊 This is one of the new lightweight remote rigs I’ve been developing the last year, and I reckon this one is a game-changer for climbing photography. No, it won’t replace abseiling in all situations, far from it. But in some situations, it has some significant advantages. Also, this rig opens up possibilities for new angles that simply can’t be gained from abseil. I’ve been in this game a long time, and as you can see, I’m very excited by this! The link to the video is in my profile, or go to my channel on YouTube - SimonCarterNoFilter, or search for “Climbing Photography Game Changer? My New Remote Camera Setup Revealed”, and I’ll be interested to hear your thoughts, so please hit me up in the comments section there. Cheers, Simon

I'm excited to announce that my first video is now live on my new YouTube channel! 🎉🎉🎉 My first video, "30 years of climbing photography: my craziest shoot ever!" is a wild ride. I've spent the last year developing remote-control camera rigs for climbing photography, and this video puts one of my setups, and me, to the test. I should probably add a language warning… 🤔 The link to the video is in my bio! Check it out, leave a comment with your thoughts on the rig, and don't forget to subscribe, like, and share! 🙂 Enjoy! I’m looking forward to making more of these. Thanks everyone for your support! Simon
