Tonight will see the North East Screening of House54's production of RED RIDING University of Sunderland's David Puttnam Media Centre as part of the incredible Sunderland Shorts Film Festival You'll also get to see a brilliant short ahead of the feature by the extremely talented Jadey Duffield also produced by Neil Marshall who will be attending alongside producer Daniel Patrick Vaughan myself and other guests. What makes this screening special is that we were able to film it at the University working with students and regional talent including Dan Hansom and another regional producer Carley Armstrong as well as our regional actors such as Sharon Percy and Jacqueline Phillips Ian Whyte Bill Fellows who joined with our other amazing cast and crew led by Victoria Tait as Redelle Riding. Excited to see it here and to have regional support from a festival such as this.

After her mother’s overdose, troubled teen Redele Riding is sent from her London council estate to live with her estranged aristocratic grandmother in the Scottish Highlands. At first, Red is captivated by the grand estate, but beneath the elegance, she uncovers disturbing secrets: vanished children, whispers of a monstrous wolf stalking the woods, and a sinister control exerted by her grandmother and the menacing gamekeeper. As folklore and reality blur, Red struggles to make sense of cryptic warnings left by her mother and a dark family legacy. Executive produced by Neil Marshall and directed by his frequent collaborator Craig Conway.

Next week I’ll be speaking at the Inclusion by Default Conference and if I’m honest, this one feels important.
Not just as a speaker.
As a human being.
We talk a lot about diversity, opportunity, talent but for me, it comes down to something much simpler
We don’t lack talent.
We lack access.
Access isn’t just about jobs or industries.
It’s about how people feel when they walk into a room.
Do I belong here?
Am I allowed to speak?
Does what I bring matter?
Because when the answer is no or even uncertain
people go quiet.
And when people go quiet, we don’t just lose voices, we lose truth, ideas, connection and ultimately, potential.
That’s why this conference matters and that’s why I want you in the room.
This isn’t about ticking boxes or surface level inclusion.
It’s about building something deeper.
Something human.
Something that actually works.
And that’s exactly what we’re doing with The Runway Rooms.
We’re not creating a space for “ready made” creatives only.
We’re building a movement where people invest in themselves and each other
To produce
To promote
To create
To support
And to build something meaningful in the North East
Together.
Because the truth is that the strength of a room isn’t in how exclusive it is.

🥳 Such a great night at @roxymoviesmiddlesbrough tonight to enjoy the @fearscreen showing of RED RIDING, a movie made and filmed by @daniel_patrick_vaughan and directed by @conwaydirects
🍿 The film wasn’t just greatly entertaining, it was beautifully shot. The standard of acting was breathtaking…to the point that when it came to meet the film’s baddie @ian.whyte the TVIFF and BAFF teams were nervous about meeting him because he played such a terrifying baddie. 🫣
🙏🏻 However, it immediately became clear that Ian, just like his fellow cast members, is such a fantastic actor that the character he played belied the wonderful person he is. From there, we’ve agreed to chat about his involvement in the next TVIFF major film production!
🧟♂️ This film is absolute top drawer horror wrapped in bleak social comment. The next screening of RED RIDING will be at @sundshortsfilm Be sure to check it out there in May.
