Continuum Bass shapes and defines the future of bass music through intentional curation, moving across jungle, dubstep, breaks, global bass, jazz, techno, and leftfield club, pushing distinct bass-driven experiences across the archipelago. Founded in 2023, the platform bridges local and global scenes, creating space for emerging Filipino artists to stand alongside international movements. With two compilations championing Filipino bass music, including one featured by The Wire, Continuum Bass contributes to the longevity of the movement while carving out space for Southeast Asian bass music in the global conversation. Its reach extends beyond the Philippines through international radio guestings and a Keep Hush broadcast, placing Continuum Bass alongside some of the most respected names in the global underground. As a female-fronted movement, it also challenges and reshapes the dynamics of the scene, foregrounding perspectives that are often underrepresented in electronic music.

Ahead of our Manila event w/ @continuumbass , the crew have selected 5 tracks shaping the Philippines’ bass movement right now - a glimpse into the local scene:
⁠ ⁠ 1. @ezzrei - MUMBLES (Baby Vortex EP)⁠ ⁠ from my upcoming EP, opens with jazz-influenced drums and instrumentation before moving into a darker, more hard-hitting exploration of bass and grime textures. I’m really a jungle producer but I do love to make 140 and I feel I get to be more cerebral when I’m making dubstep.⁠ ⁠ ⁠ 2. @s00thsyr - HIWAGA (Dub Dystopia, Continuum Bass)⁠ ⁠ This track was recorded by Mico (s00thsyr) on his MPC while he was in travelling and was inspired by the rhythms of  “Singkil” a dance of the southern Maranao. He also has an affinity on amulets, which we have a strong culture of, the cultural significance.  Folklorized as “anting-anting”, and is embraced as a local system of “magic, healing, protection”.⁠ ⁠ ⁠ 3. @petschool2021 / @sus.dae - Sora No Taiyo (DnB x/o Version)⁠ ⁠ It represents a spectrum of bass music that I feel deserves more exploration, not just within club spaces but also as something meant for deeper listening.”⁠ ⁠ ⁠ 4. @freetherobots @continuumbass -Malunggay (Pandesal) (Gunita Compilation, Continuum Bass)⁠ ⁠ Free the Robots, originally from LA’s beat scene, now based in Siargao, and you can feel that shift in the music.  It also opened up new ideas within our research and reinforced that the compilation is moving in the right direction⁠ ⁠ ⁠ 5. @horse_boyy | @hidekizito | @gabrielbooo - Cannon Dreams (Hideki Ito’s Solace)⁠ ⁠ Gabriel  on the saxophone- same guy who always plays with us (including our tunnel gigs). Jazz and electro has been quite a focus on our scene’s practice. Aside from of course, our many flips, and incorporation of live instruments, we get booked to play jazz sets and it’s pretty common to hear jazzy bass in our night. Gab is also a member of PlayStation, a Jazzy jungle atmospheric band that was formed and conceptualised within continuum and to play for a night meant for that kind of exploration. ⁠ ⁠ See you in Quezon City, tickets in bio

What the! Grateful to be featured on @thewiremagazine ’s August 2025 issue, sharing my work with @continuumbass and my track in it! This is such a huge honor -to be included in this feature alongside underground greats. June 2025 shall go down in my personal history as the time I was able to truthfully narrate a Filipino woman’s vision to a regarded, INDEPENDENT publication for global underground and experimental music. For too long, women—no matter how skilled, how seasoned, or how solid in the scene—get sidelined. Not because they’re lacking, but because they dare to show up in spaces built to shrink them. I’m at ease that this isn’t the case anymore-at least in the spaces we operate in. Across the underground, women have carved out space—not just for themselves but for entire communities. They’ve built platforms, nurtured culture, and held it down when no one else would. OSIVE - (Vienna, Austria) From the heart of Vienna, OSIVE arrives on Gunitâ in full PINOY BASS energy, channeling the raw spirit of Filipino sound system culture through a distinctly diasporic lens. The jaw harp (kubing) of his Camarines Sur ancestral lineage becomes raw material: scraped into metallic grit, stretched into a grimy drum architecture, and dropped into a low-slung dubstep floor shaker that still hums with something older than the speakers. A total „bass journey,“ kuya did not just go to town, he went to SM Mall of Asia for it! ABOUT GUNITA: Gunitâ is a curated cultural documentation project focused on contemporary Filipino bass music across the homeland and diaspora. First, Keep Hush team, thank you for the trust! @keephush_ Lore time: the green Continuum logo is intentional, because in 2023, I was manifesting to be in Keep Hush. After seeing online sets, I knew I wanted to experience it too, and for my culture to be a part of it. I wasn’t sure how, but I was certain it could HAPPEN. 3yrs later in 2026 and on my birthday, I find myself producing Keep Hush Manila, in one of the city’s key spaces for art with what is possibly one of the best sound systems in Southeast Asia, fine-tuned by a legend who helped push bass music in the 90s PH. These things don’t simply align “just because.” To make culture in a third world country isn’t easy, especially independently w/o anything protecting our efforts. Cultural erasure is REAL. While rampant here in the PH, for us it one-way. We have been documenting through our flyers, videos, global collaborations, intl features, groundbreaking events like this, our compilations, @kanto.cult.radio , a cultural research facility, and opportunities. Our movement spans all across tue PH. This has become so undeniable that everything we do cannot be removed or “forgotten” by choice. My ancestors will be proud because, i am adding to our culture and protecting its truth, because the system I built can identify those who repeat what our colonizers did to us. To bring this night to life is a feat- it is significant, our part in the global discourse of bass music is activated. Thank you, @joenicedj for sharing your music rooted in resistance.
