And so the story goes āļø
Itās been a wild 7-8 years. I look back on it and Iām amazed how each step naturally led into the other.
I had no real plan or concrete vision for my career when I started. Just that I wanted to work in unscripted content and be good at it.
At the time, I thought my lack of clarity on path was a hindrance to my trajectory. I constantly second guessed if I was doing it right.
Now I realize my decision to be open, learn where I was at, and jump in maybe too aggressively to every project I was given is THE reason I am able to confidently do what I do with @contentbycaley now.
Sometimes just a right amount of letting life happen routes you exactly where youāre supposed to be.
And Iām so happy to be here!!! š«¶
#4 is probably one of my hottest takes yet š¶ļø
4 things I learned as a social media producer at Red Bull that Iāve carried into every job and every client since.
Which resonates with you the most? š¤

Whatsssss up friends! š
Weāre officially rolling on here - new website, new photos, new offers, new content coming soon - so it felt like a good time to officially introduce myself.
My nameās Caley š„³
Iāve spent the past 8 years working in social media and marketing for a variety of businesses.
You can get a taste of some of my favorite projects so far by scrolling through this post. A good ole walk down memory lane ā¤ļø
As for my experience ā¬ļø
1ļøā£Ā I spent over 4 years at Red Bull as a Social Media Producer where I created more social series than I can count and got to travel all over the US (and the world!) documenting our athletes and events (see slide 2 for when I went to India for the Red Bull BC One World Championships).
2ļøā£Ā Now I run the Content and Community team over at Proteus Motion where weāve grown our IG to close to 20k followers organically in a prettty short period of time š
3ļøā£Ā Iāve also consulted start ups on the side from initial launch to go-to-market to established brands who just need a little extra help!
After all this, I decided to create @contentbycaley as a place for me to share tips, tricks, and resources for businesses, individuals, and fellow social media managers. I mean I spend my days talking about this in meetings, so why not package it up in a fun way?
So welcome š¤Ā
If you have a question, I hope to have an answer. If youāre looking for help, letās chat.
P.S. Hereās a couple fun facts on me (who doesnāt love a fun fact):
āØĀ I went to circus school when I was younger and specialized in trapeze.
āØĀ One time, I met Kelly Clarkson in a hotel lobby while I was recovering from food poisoning (she didnāt know that though).
āØĀ I have 6 siblingsā¦I am the funniest.
āØĀ I was once on the cover of Sports Illustrated - Go Cuse!
āØĀ Iām abnormally scared of house birdsā¦and Iām pretty sure they know it.

This month, I hit two years since going full time with @contentbycaley š¾
When youāre in it so much in the day to day, you constantly feel like youāre not doing enough or behind where you want to be.
The comparison game is REAL.
So it feels almost surreal that on my 2 year anniversary, I found myself at #CanvaCreate with the @linkedin team and got to see my content flashed on their screens š®āšØ
I have been jokingly calling it my Times Square billboard moment š
But seriously, it was the perfect cheers to a really, really good yearāone filled with clients I only dreamed of years ago and busy days where I am so dang happy I took a chance on myself.
Donāt come for me acotar fans, I am a SJM stan š«¶
But anyways, this verticals drama craze has me thinking about all the other media types that used to be taboo to say you consumed and then crossed over into the mainstream.
Are verts next? š
Original post from @a_producer_guy - super entertaining content on how the industry is moving around vertical series!

One point I didnāt add in this that is VERY important ⤵ļø
Sensationalized, rage baiting content to push an agenda is nothing new. Bot campaigns are nothing new.
Why this feels different is the sheer QUANTITY of what can be produced in an incredibly short period of time.
Algorithms thrive on emotionally reactive content so if the people behind these accounts are able to produce a 100 videos a day with AI avatars that are harder and harder to detectā¦.
Even the most savvy, media literate person will be subconsciously impacted.
Because you canāt escape it.
And you canāt always detect it.
And the platforms are not being proactive enough about how to stop it.
What do you think?
This type of content is generally manufactured hype š«
Some of it is solid advice. But most of it is pretty standard, just packaged up in a way that makes you feel like youāre behind or missing out.
So whatās the true algorithm?
Itās more about consumption habits than hacks.
Look out for micro trends ā”ļø minor shifts week to week in whatās trending or popping off
Vs macro shifts ā”ļø major changes in how people prefer to consume content.
Like how trending audios were huge 2 years ago and now people crave more serialized content.
Observe these to see where you land but remember good content ALWAYS wins out.
Youāre better off focusing on finding your unique perspective and edit style than trying to mimic the hacks and gimmicks these videos talk about.

Meet the queen bee strategy šš
The idea is genius.
Hire a couple macros or celebrities.
Pay for a small deliverable list.
Negotiate re-distribution rights into the contract (basically this clears you if your UGC creators use that footage and you want to whitelist it as an ad).
Hire a SWARM of nanos and micros to make content reacting to that content.
That creates the āeffectā of a moment which in turn pushes other nanos and micros to make content on their own.
But what makes this strategy work so well is the levers brand pull next to this that make it feel like their product is seeping in everywhere.
Watch the full vid to find out what they are.
Now, what other products do you feel like have used this strategy?

Making social strategies for brands & people who comment part 1!!!
Today weāre focused on @__alterd - an upcycled footwear brand with seriously beautiful shoes.
I love the upcycling community so when I saw the founder comment, I couldnāt wait to jump in.
Thereās so much already inherently interesting in this space - you take someone elseās trash and make a literal piece of art. Like cmon!!
But anyways, hereās how I would approach creating a strategy for a brand or creator in this space āļøāØ
Other upcycling creators featured that I loooove ⤵ļø

The social media org chart is changing š
With major cuts in traditional media industries, weāre seeing the beginnings of a massive shift. That creative energy has to go somewhere.
The picture became clearer when I saw this post from Chris Cunningham of @clickup discussing their super genius approach to scaling a content team.
Hire writers and professional actors = better performing content with talent that takes the job seriously.
I think this is just the beginning. With microdramas having a moment, I see an even bigger shift in traditional media playing out on our phone screens by end of year.
What do you think?

Is Instagram search good nowā¦.? š
All I have to say is this is the first time that search has been a primary driver of new followers for me.
But letās throw it to youā¦do you use Instagram to search now?
