I first came across Alexis Akrithakis’s work in old Arti magazines that had been left on the shelves of the municipal art workshop in Serres, where I grew up. I remember spending hours leafing through them, looking at the images.
Years later, during my studies at the Athens School of Fine Arts, I discovered the work of Nikos Gabriel Pentzikis, while researching artists of Northern Greece - though I’d long been familiar with him from a poster hanging in my mother’s ceramic studio, from a retrospective exhibition at the University of Macedonia in the 1990s featuring his works of a private collection.
So when Kalfayan Gallery invited me to take part in the show “4ensic Drawings”, it felt as if all these threads connected. As Nikos Vamvouklis reflects in his wonderful text, the exhibition “proposes a viewing laboratory: a space to consider painting and drawing as practices that organize time and memory through material means.”
I’m very happy to be part of this exhibition, alongside Karolina Karasouli, featuring works by both Akrithakis and Pentzikis.

As I prepare to say goodbye to my studio, I wanted to share some of the special moments I’ve had here over the past two years. This space has been a true sanctuary for me. Thank you to everyone for coming to say hi this weekend - Your support means so much.

Delving into Konstantinos Mouchtaridis’ works through his images of Kythnos landscapes☀️☀️
The observation of nature and landscape transforms into reflections of sensations, while the organic forms and colour relations of the landscape are rearranged to create transparent colour compositions.
