ELEONAS by @inesdifolcojemni @chamlavant and @winniemorielly opens this Thursday April 30th from 8pm 🪞🗝️🪆🔑 Performance at 9pm ELEONAS brings together the works of Inès Di Folco Jemni, Cham Lavant and Winnie Mo Rielly in an exhibition born from a physical place and an affective territory: a vast flea market on the outskirts of Athens, at the edge of the city, of memory and of time. Visited each week by a dense crowd of families, traders, tourists and everyday treasures, the Eleonas market has been run for several generations of Athens’ Romani community. It is an organic, living space, aggregating objects from Europe and the Mediterranean like a continuous wave. The exhibition ELEONAS will travel between two sister cities that share a political, social and symbolic geography: Athens and Marseille. Two Mediterranean ports, crossed by ancient and contemporary human circulations, two border-cities marked by the tensions of tourism, post-colonialism and popular culture. ELEONAS will take place in both contexts, first at Alkinois and then at Sissi Club @sissi.club (Nov - Jan) in Marseille. It thus carries a living memory between the two shores, linking two independent venues that each in their own way defend an art rooted in the shifting realities of their territory. TCHARENDAR by @sebastienbonin_studio is open today, Friday and Saturday 18:00 to 20:00 and by appointment 🐾 “Tcharendar is a word from the patois of the Hautes-Alpes referring to the moment when bread is made to last through the winter. In Alpine villages, where seasonal cycles long structured collective life, this preparation was far more than a domestic task. It marked a shared moment within an economy of subsistence in which foresight, the repetition of gestures, and the careful use of resources shaped everyday existence. Objects, tools and skills circulated within this web of practices: they were repaired, passed on, adapted and sometimes transformed from one generation to the next. It is within this horizon that Sébastien Bonin’s practice takes shape. Having grown up in this region, the artist draws on a repertoire of forms connected to rural and artisanal labour. Yet his work is neither reconstruction nor ethnographic testimony. Join us this Friday for the opening of TCHARENDAR, a solo exhibition by Belgian artist Sébastien Bonin. The title of the exhibition refers to the “day of bread,” a recurring moment within the cyclical rhythm of rural life. Drawing on objects associated with traditional craftsmanship — tools, agricultural devices, and domestic forms — Bonin explores repetition, transmission, and the preservation of gestures across time. Through sculpture and painting, everyday utilitarian forms are displaced from their original function and reinterpreted as vehicles of memory. With the support of the Fédération Wallonie Bruxelles. In this exhibition, Sébastien Bonin derives objects from rural craftsmanship — tools, agricultural devices, domestic forms — approached as carriers of memory and transmission. In its foundations there is a structural principle: the multiple. Forms appear in pairs, duplicates, or series. This repetition is neither decorative nor industrial; it is necessary. A shoe implies its counterpart, a pattern calls for another, a gesture exists only because it can be repeated. The multiple ensures the survival and circulation of forms across time.
