Some artists show you a face.
Others make you feel what itās like to live inside one.
For our Faces exhibition, Constance McBride does the latter.
Working with clay as memory, as pressure, as something that records every touch, she builds figures that donāt perform for the viewer. They fold, they compress, they hold. What you see isnāt just form, itās the weight of being.
After decades away from her practice, Constance returned to clay and stayed. And in that time, the work has only grown more honest. More physical. More human.
Because here, the question isnāt who is this?
