Who doesn’t love a day by the ocean, especially when you can do some good while you’re at it! 🌊
Join Conservation Works and California State Parks at Goat Rock Beach for an invasive species removal on Wednesday, May 27th, from 9-1pm.
We’ll soak up the sun and some stunning views while we work to protect our coastal prairie, making room for the native species we love while also making it more wildfire resilient! 🌱
Sign up using the QR code, or reach out to [email protected]. We’ll provide everything you need (including snacks!), just come ready to have some fun! ☀️🌾

What’s the difference between a Forest Management Plan and an implementation project?
Forest Management Plans are developed by Registered Professional Foresters and tailored to your land. The Forester will assess many aspects of your forest, including tree health, vegetation composition, soil conditions, infrastructure (roads and access), cultural resources, water resources, wildlife habitat, and wildfire risk. The plan will lay out clear, actionable steps to improve forest resilience over time.
Implementation projects are on-the-ground forest improvement activities that reduce wildfire risk and support long-term forest health. Activities include: fuels reduction & thinning, pruning and tree care, shaded fuel breaks, removal of dead or diseased trees, and reforestation and planting.
The North Bay Forest Improvement Program (NBFIP) is a collaborative, regional program that supports forest health and resilience across Lake, Mendocino, Napa and Sonoma counties. The program provides financial incentives to landowners to conduct this critical work 🌲🌳🌲
Applications for Forest Management Plans are accepted year-round. Applications for implementation projects open July 8th! Visit NorthBayForestImprovementProgram.com or click the link in our bio to learn more 🔗
This program is a partnership between Conservation Works, the Resource Conservation Districts (RCDs) of Sonoma, Gold Ridge, Mendocino and Napa counties and Clear Lake Environmental Research Center (CLERC) of Lake County. Together, we are providing assistance to landowners across the four-county region.

As Earth month comes to a close, our staff and @caclimateaction fellows were hard at work! 🌎
On Friday, we joined the @cityofsr on the Colgan Creek restoration project - decades in the making and nearing completion! We supported some of the final plantings for the project using plugs from @laguna_foundation , including creeping wild rye, grey rush, and pacific rush 🌾🌾 We also helped clear weeds from the newly planted sites - and lots of them!
Thanks to the generous volunteers from Calpine Energy for joining us, supporting planting 500 plants (!!) and having a wonderful time together! 🌞
We are walking up a storm this Earth Day to collectively walk 56 miles to celebrate the 56 years of Earth Days!
Can we do it?????? That’s a lot of miles…
-TJ our Russian River Confluence Program Manager is walking the 20 miles of the San Francisco X town trail
-Rhonda our Office Manager walked 7.6 miles of the Camino De Sonoma
-Oona our Executive Director is walking 10 miles from Willow creek to the ocean-
- Susan our board member is walking 2 miles of the Mendocino Headlands Trail with Shari
-Lily our Conservationist is walking 10 miles to the top of Sonoma mountain with her partner.
Stay tuned after next week to see who else walked and if we made our goal of 56 miles!
Please consider supporting Conservation Works’s Hike for Habitat. We are all working super hard, every day to make our world a better place. Plus it gives us all an extra skip in our step knowing the community believes that the climate work we do is critical work and supports us in these efforts.
Click the linktree in our name to donate. Thank you and happy Earth Day!!
From February through April, our California Climate Action Corps fellows and supervisor Lily Roberts brought watershed education to nearly 500 students across 10+ classes in the Mark West Creek Watershed. 🌧️💧
Through hands-on lessons, like tracking pollution with an Enviroscape model, building rainwater harvesting systems, and testing real creek water- students explored what it means to care for our waterways.
From shorter showers to proper waste disposal, these future stewards are ready to make waves in protecting the creeks, rivers, oceans, and wildlife they love. 🌎🐟
Thank you to the American Water Charitable Foundation for making this possible through the Kids Creek Care: Conservation Action in Mark West Creek grant.

We love opportunities to meet with our landowner partners and see their forest health projects in action! 🌲🌲
In February, Sarah, Emma, and @caclimateaction fellow Emily joined @pepperwoodpreserveca on a Learn and Burn day at the property of a North Bay Forest Improvement Program funding recipient. We saw first hand the impact of forest health treatments on the property, and participated in lighting burn piles that were created with NBFIP funding. We can’t think of a more beautiful way to support wildfire resilient lands, build community connections, and expand local forest health efforts - all with a stunning view and a delicious meal, freshly cooked in our burn piles! 🔥🪵
NBFIP is a collaborative, regional program supporting forest health and wildfire risk reduction across Lake, Mendocino, Napa, and Sonoma counties. This cost-share program, funded by California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection’s Wildfire Resilience Program, provides financial incentives to landowners to conduct this critical work. We are proud to be part of this partnership alongside Gold Ridge, Sonoma, Mendocino, and Napa RCDs, and Clear Lake Environmental Research Center. 🌳
