Happy Mental Health Awareness Month! This month, we want to emphasize the importance of finding a support system and being a safe space for someone to talk to about mental health. It is important for everyone to have someone in their lives they can turn to for support whether it be a two legged friend or a four legged friend!
One of the most powerful ways we can support those around us is by being a safe and non-judgmental space for them to open up and share their struggles. By listening with empathy and offering a shoulder to lean on, we can help others feel less alone and more understood.
If you are struggling with your own mental health, it is crucial to reach out and seek help from a professional, as well as leaning on your support system for emotional support. Remember, it’s okay to not be okay, and seeking help is a brave and important step towards healing and growth.
Let’s all commit to being there for one another, listening without judgment, and creating a safe space for open and honest conversations about mental health. Together, we can break the stigma surrounding mental health and create a more supportive and compassionate community for everyone.

Suicide is the 2nd-leading cause of death among youth age 15 to 24 in the U.S.
This year we are focused on the act of sharing whether it’s sharing hope, stories, time, resources, or experience. It can serve as a powerful tool in suicide prevention.

Meet McKenzie and Anya, two students from OCSA that have created a student club called Crafting Kindness to help others and spread positivity through arts and crafts! The two girls have developed an initiative to include their peers in club meetings to create different DIY projects, art kits, and more, which are donated to spaces like homeless shelters and local children’s hospitals.
Each project is made with care and the intention to make a positive difference and bring happiness to people! While this kindness can help others, kindness can also help your own mental health. Acts of kindness towards others can boost your mood, lower stress, and build wonderful networks!
Check out this video to learn more about Crafting Kindness and how this work has impacted McKenzie and Anya and the people around them. Learn how you can also make a difference in the world.
Reach out to people, spread kindness, and remember…It Feels Good to do Good!
