Omg I did it! I finished my dream jacket! Well almost - I still need to add buttons. I am so thrilled with how it turned out and I honestly can’t believe I drafted it myself brought it to life! I hope none of you mind if this if the only thing I’ll be wearing for the rest of Me Made May! 🥑🫒💕 The details: This gorgeous fabric is from @stonemountainfabric - it’s @atelierbrunette gaberdine in “dreamy twilight” - which is the perfect name for this color! And I’m wearing it with a pink linen peppermint wrap skirt which I hacked to have a skinny waistband/ties and a self drafted tee. Lads. I finished the shirt. Pattern self drafted to my own specifications. Flat felled seams, french seamed, hidden placket. This is a milestone for me. I can’t wait to make another. I’ve worn it to work two days in a row and I love it 🧡 #easyshirt #sewing #patternmaking #ootd #slowfashion

Welcome to week 1 of the Super Bowl of sewing!! SPORTS! Here’s holding out hope I will wear something other than my beloved Lane Pants collection next week… but also why bother when they’re that good 🙃 • #everydaycrop @jessilous_closet • double dose of #lanepants by @hisydgraham • #holidayslipover @petiteknit • #saundraskirt @hisydgraham • #clobiasskirt @soften_studio • some of my fave fabrics from @blackbirdfabrics • annnd a couple little samples of a self drafted summer mini dress (or shirt.. mood dependant) courtesy of @confidentpatternmaking . Maybe one day I’ll get my ass in gear and actually flip it into a pattern

Teaching my brain to slow down, by conceptualising, designing, refining… Persevering when the dopamine dips, persisting, even when motivation wanes… Considering construction, learning new techniques, challenging my making skills… Stepping away when frustration / imposter syndrome / comparison hits, and stepping back even if the echo can still be heard… Reminding myself that 10 mins doing is better than 10 hours of overthinking… Slow fashion is intentionally slow. Removing the quick fix hits, that feed into the need for more, moving on to the next thing. Sometimes it feels frustrating or boring, but often it feels wholesome, rejuvenating, stepping outside of the machine. Especially on a sunny, spring, evening. #slowfashion #patterndesigner #learningnewthings #dopamine #easyshirt

Several weeks ago, I decided to buy some fabric paint and explore what the #juliejeans could look like with quilt style tulips on the knees and back pockets. Here’s how they tuned out. Totally wish I’d documented the painting process but I guess there’s always next time. Sewing pattern: Julie Jeans Pattern designer: @yoannas_studio #sewing #memade #fabricpaint #getdressedwithme

I’m starting to grade my pants pattern!!!!!!! AND I’m halfway done writing the instructions. Be on the lookout for a testing call in the next few weeks 🥹 IT’S HAPPENING! . . . For those who don’t know, this is a pants pattern I designed with my mom 5 years ago. She was a professional patternmaker and was the one who taught me how to sew. We developed 4 clothing collections together and she graded our patterns in 4 standard sizes. All by hand on paper. . . But life is unfair and I suddenly lost my mom 2 years ago to lung cancer within a month of diagnosis. Ive been deep in grief since. Our plans were cut short—frozen. She was about to teach me her trade. . I knew I wanted to learn no matter what. So when I felt like my grief was manageable I took a leap and enrolled in a patternmaking course at the beginning of the year. And it’s been life-changing. I have the capabilities now to turn the physical patterns my mom left me into digital ones to share with the world. Our dreams are coming true. It’s healing. . . I can’t wait to bring our Foggy Day Pants to you. I love them so deeply and I hope you do too 🤍 . . xo Abby

I drafted a jacket sewing pattern! Drink every time you hear me say “actually”or “dream”. 😅 I wanted a lightweight cropped jacket that I can wear year round here in the PNW. Thanks to @confidentpatternmaking I learned all the skills I needed to draft this pattern and after only two rounds of muslin mockups and changes I made it in some bleached denim from my fabric stash. I’m so grateful for everything I learned (and am STILL learning) from the course! One of the best things about Confident Patternmaking is that you can work through the course materials at your own pace and go back to review the lessons any time because you have access to the materials FOREVER. If you’re considering joining confident patternmaking I highly recommend it.
