Honored to have hosted the brilliant Sarah Wang @daikonoclast at Transverse Range last month 🕯️💖 Head to @skylightbooks on May 14th to see Sarah present their new book, NEW SKIN, alongside @chriskraus7 . See you there!
As the sun sets, we say goodbye to resident Auzelle Epeneter. Auzelle is a poet based in Los Angeles who came to the Transverse Range to explore ideas she began writing about while earning her certification last fall as a California Naturalist (@uccalnat + @dominguezrancho ). Auzelle spent half her time on nearby trails and the other half writing new poems about conservation, public access, and how healing our collective relationship with nature can be a form of social justice. Thank you, @zap_de for being here!
Thank you to @_sweenyv_ for sharing your creativity at Transverse Range. Virginia’s notable portfolio includes a three-part site-specific performance, “Have You Seen Mats?,” designed to guide viewers into the magic of the Hahamongna as part of the Save San Pascual (@save_san_pascual_park ) effort. For their two week residency, Virginia worked on developing a series of ink drawings and a new performance to open at @plooooooot in January 2026. See you there!

Concerning Landscape is pleased to announce two new land-care initiatives for Fall 2025: the Transverse Range Residency and accompanying educational garden, Chaparral Commons.
Located in the foothill neighborhood of Tujunga, Transverse Range is an inter/transdisciplinary office & residency for ecological inquiry and cultural work. We invite scientists, writers, researchers, designers, diggers, makers, thinkers, et al., to engage deeply with the local ecology, Indigenous histories, and evolving land-use narratives of the northeast San Fernando and Crescenta Valleys, with an emphasis on the dynamic ecotone of the Transverse Ranges. Our program seeks to cultivate a network of diverse practitioners committed to expanding place-based knowledge in Tujunga and the SF/CV Valley. By centering localized observation and experience, the residency aims to generate new understandings and reciprocal relationships with this region—its layered histories, present vulnerabilities, and future possibilities.
